Are personal messages sent by a spammer left when their posts are removed and the account banned? 

 

If the account was Flagged as Spammer (as opposed to being banned for rules violations), I think everything goes away. It's a 2-click solution for blatant spammers. Hyper would know for sure.

I'm actually not 100% sure how it deals with PMs. I would have thought that those would have been hidden as well since that would fall under the umbrella of "content". However, we have spam posts set to be hidden rather than deleted and hiding posts isn't an option available even to me in PMs. I do know that if it does happen, it doesn't happen immediately. Posts get removed in batches.

That makes sense, thanks! Your replies above seems to explain a slightly confusing chain of events that took place regarding PMs and posts. (Posts that had no spam content at that time.)

Note: This is not an issue of any kind, I just got curious how the mechanisms of the forum works.
