Weaponization of artificial intelligence

Featured Replies

There's a lot of controversy surrounding "fake news".

Is it possible to weaponize artificial intelligence to create (fake) news story based on the official narratives?

Trash input will yield trash output, whether human or AI. Although, most people have similar senses, and are, to some extent, capable of filtering input to eliminate trash. An AI may or may not have reliable sensors, depending on how they are built.

Depending on your definition of "weaponize", I think we've seen that this can be done. We just used to call it propaganda. It works.

Consider a supercomputer capable of creating structured narratives to polarize society with fake news

about Trump, Russia, the Islamic state, etc...

They already exist. News stories built via algorithm and not authored by humans are published thousands of times per day and have been for years. The algorithms can be tweaked based on the desire of the programmer.

The answer to your OP is trivially yes.
