  1. I got 2 working backwards with algerbra, but it still doesn't make sense. But i don't care anymore. NEXT>
  2. I'm going to have to ask for some working, coz this is really going to annoy me
  3. Yeah - bit of an exam tip there. What is the answer then?
  4. I thought it was stored cold because noone likes warm fizzy drinks! Sorry - nothing valuble to contribute, but the consencious seems to go for pressure and BenSon's science
  5. If you reword the question it would work out at 2/3 Ib as 2/3 + 1/3 = 1 IB
  6. yeah, i don't know where that came from. I know you can create a 'curved' line using to perpendicular lines ( number x axis 0 - n and the y axis n - 0, then just join the corrospond numbers with a straight line, do enough and you get a curve - sort of) Anyway, the protons and neutrons of an atom are not evenly distributed, therefore neither are the quarks and altermatly neither are the forces these exert. How ever if a quarks does not have a dimension therefore the force they exert comes from a piont, and in a 3d world a piont force will be the centre of the 1/r^2 rule, therfore any electron that 'orbits' the point force will travel in a circurlar motion, if unaffected by external forces. However if the neutrons/protons do have a size and therefore the forces are ununiform then the motion would be eliptical, but still in a strange spherical based shape. As for a square template - it would have to be a cube, with no mass and no observed affect. I don't think it could happen.
  7. If by coil gun you mean using electromagnetism to propel a metal slug i wouldn't. I knew a guy who thought he'd make a coil gun, he only lost half his ring finger and badly burnt his arm up to the elbow. Don't do the string theory, i've heard enough for a while, personally. Quantum entanglement is quite good, as not to many people have a good knowledge of it - you can also link it to the advances in the quantum computer. good luck anyway
  8. The way i understand the original question is if i am travelling faster the mass increses. altermatly will this give me more gold? no - more gold assumes more atoms. as speed increses as does mass, but the number of fundamental parts does not. as soon as the speed decreases the observed mass would return to normal.
  9. cold and hard and pretty useless. At least super cooled helium can be used for super conducting magnets - eg fusion reactor - but a 'solid' lump of helium? You would have to keep it contained in whatever device you used to cool it which would negate it's low density.
  10. I know i'm going to get slated for this but I don't understand why alien life would not be humanoid, or bipedal. If there are similar conditions on an alien world and earth i cannot think why there would not be the possibility for alien life like ours. I'm not saying there would be, but there could be. Common beleif is that we evoled into the shape we are from a single cell. Now that would mean we are a successful shape/function, to me anyway. I never have understood the opposition to humanoid/bipedal life. We have nothing to base any 'theories' on so as far as i am concerned they are guesses. we will just have to wait - a while. oh yeah and MIB's aliens were for a 'comedy' (loosely used) and designed to fit into the feeling of the film.
  11. As far as i know mitosis cannot be explained in a few words. I don't know what exams your doing but you need to know all the stages - Prophase I & II Anaphase Metaphase Telophase Cytokenisis As well as what happens in each one! This is the case for most of these words, even an atom is expressed in more than one sentance. Time to start cramming.
  12. The idea of the conservation of energy would mean that matter (being energy fundamentally - according to some!) is not being destroyed but is 'evolving'. Even if the universe is still expanding , if matter wa being created the mass of the universe would be incresing exponentially (the bigger the universe gets the larger the 'surface area' of expansion assuming it is occuring everywhere, not just in select places. What would this extra matter do to the overall temperature? I don't know but it would either increse or decrease it. If matter is being created is is plausable to assume anti-matter is also being created?
  13. I give him credit for admitting that he can make mistakes. Someone in the public eye making serious suggetsions about blackholes etc, and then be able to say he could be wrong takes some courage. But then einstein did as well so.....

    lightsaber

The idea that you could have a device that could redirect photons of light, if that is what a lightsaber is, fit in your hand is pretty far out there. And as far as i'm aware of few photons can't slice through metal.
  15. The way I understand it centrofugal force does not exist. The force that you are talking about is centropital and is the acceleration towards a centre, usually motion vector perpendicular to the acceleration. This is a stable and circular orbit.

    Why do we age?

    sorry more questions than....well....no answers

    Why do we age?

well it is definatly complete. Unfortunatly I don't know why we age, but I read somewhere that animals such as great white sharks and crocodilia do not age at all! Is this true and could it be connected to their advanced immune system? Does this also pose the question - is aging a disease?
  18. Sort of defeats my idea that no one will buy it then
  19. Yes, but i would add one more necessary adaption. The need for a decisive and articulate written and spoken language which has the ability to grow and change. As you said, what could an earthworm do with intelligence, but what would it do if it won't to prove it was intelligent?
  20. How about silicon due to number of vowels and 27 x 15 = 6?
  21. Picking up in the starting post, even if china can produce masses of products such as TV's and cars, this does not mean people will buy it. Many people could bouycot the products because of working conditions, like YT2095 said. Also, would china corporations want to pay to export into the US because of the ludicrously high taxing on importations. As well as this, would people accept the build quality and styling. IMO i don't think that just because you have alot of something you want to sell, then people will buy it - look at the UK and turnip production!
  22. Yeah. Evolution does not have to be specific for physical adaptions, but can be applied to psycological, behavoural and even technological changes and advancments.
  23. This is kinda sketchy There are two types of cell division mitosis and meiosis. mitosis is the cloning of one cell. It gives the affect of doubling the number of cells you have. This is what you see in those pictures of bacteria multiplying that are everywhere. The cell goes through - Prophase - the DNA in the cell nucleus begins to duplicate thus becoming thicker. Metaphase - The nuclear envelope breaksdown as the chromosomes move to the centre. There are now two centrioles, one at either pole. these are responsible for creating spindles that the chromosomes attach too, via the centromere. Anaphase - The chromosomes pull apart and move to each pole. Telophase - the chromosomes are now contained in a new nuclear envelope and there is one centriole per nucleus. Next is cytokenesis which means cell splitting. The cell membrane pinches in and eventually meets in the middle - and you now have two genetically identical cells. Meiosis is what happens to form gametes - sex cells. It is divided into meiosis I and II IN 'I' - Prophase - homologous chromosomes pair up and cetrioles move to opposite ends of the nucleus. The envelope begins to breakdown, the nucleolus 'disappears'. So far it is the same a mitosis but next is crossing over. This is where the pairs of chromosomes next to each other can 'swap' parts. This aids genetic diversity. Metaphase - this is where the chromosomes line up next to each other. Anaphase - Instead of the centromeres splitting the whole chromosome lined up in the cell moves along the spindles. Telophase - is the same as mitosis. Most animal cells do divide and then divide again but plant cells usually do this and the next stage in one cell. Meiosis II is an exact copy of meitosis. I hope this helped and was detailed enough.

    Respiration

Ummmmmm.......Am i right in saying that the respiration process that occurs in the cytoplasm is glcolysis? i think that it only releases 2 ATP and then the process from this are carried out in mitochondria. The way I understood it in school was that anaerobic also gives 2 ATP so I think their pretty even.
