  1. Well i'm trying to get my questions across, but nobody ever understands what the F i'm asking as usual... dam my limited vocabulary.
  2. I doubt an alien species capable of long distance space travel or even sustaining life in space on vessels, would have any problem with wiping us out. The Greeks were a few hundred years or revolutions of our planet around the Sun more educated than vikings etc. Anyways, psychologically what will an aliens brain look like? New lobes? Would recreational activity become something primitive to a highly evolved space fearing species? What would they do for fun? Would humor still be a present emotion? Where would their brain go?
  3. The more you know, the more you realize you don't know.

How do you know you know how to know?

great, now there's a tongue in my face.

  4. What is ending? Your applying your own human perception to something much larger than you that you are a part of, the universe.
  5. Wellp, guess i'm gonna write the book myself and then post it on SF and if you guys like it we'll do a fundraiser for the site.
  6. Well humans can look at other species and find them "cute." Like a puppy or a kitten, I find it awesome that we can look another species in the eye and want it to survive even though its not our own. Although I think this is mainly because the human brain is wired or learns (the idea is debated) to recognize human faces. empathy stems from love just as anger stems from fear. I'm sure that most likley if an alien species relies on their fellow individuals to survive, empathy will be a present emotion at some point in their evolution. I wouldn't call it suppressing emotions, I'd call it evolving out of. I think humans have evolved enough out of fear that we can be curious. Other animals have too but humans by far have outgrown the emotion of fear farther than any other animal. What i'm wondering is, what emotions come next?
  7. weve come a long way man, only 200 years ago was slavery widespread in the world and that the blink of an eye to our species. Weve made leaps and bounds the past few thousand years and honestly I think our future doesn't look so dim. Self fulfilling prophecy, iNow has a point. ZVBXRPL, i'll give you an example. So I pretty much had a high school sweetheart for two years. Then we decided to take our relationship a step further. While she left to start college I worried she would forget about me and find someone else. Well, she did. Although had I not worried about it, that may have never happened. Self fulfilling prohpecy aint no joke, change your perception man. Happiness is not having what you enjoy, its enjoying what you have. Might sound cliche but your perspective on a situation whether it be your life or the human race will inevitably effect it. weve come a long way man, only 200 years ago was slavery widespread in the world and that the blink of an eye to our species. Btw I know our species isn't going to live for an eternity, At some point even if we do make it off the planet we will die out. Its inevitable. Although that doesn't mean we can't strive to live as long as possible and find as many answers to the universe as possible? I know i'm going to die when I play nazi zombies, yet I kill zombies till i'm dead. Dear god if you haven't played nazi zombies on black ops 2 go do that right now.

  12. Personally I like to think of it as a yin and yang sort of deal. Nothingness allows everything that is to work properly. Imagine math without 0.
  13. So nobody has really said much about what their intelligence will look like....
  14. We could do that. Personally I like the idea of everyone brainstorming for about a week or two and then deciding from what point of view we want to write the story. How we want to express the theme. What elements we want to introduce in the story. ETC. I think we would best work on this if we contemplated on these things in order giving each one about a week or two to work on. 1. Working together on the introduction 2. establishing a exposition 3. Rising action 4. climax 5. falling action 6. conclusion Then once we have all put our own 2 cents in, together we can mash it into a halfass story. Review it, go over the story one more time to fix anything. Hold a 2 week long waiting period to add, subtract, or work on anything. Then have the mods on our site go over it, fix anything, and try to get this thing published.
  15. Over twenty views and nobody has anything to say? You guys suck.
  16. Brainstorm - okay this, if we even put it in there just a small part of the book, like a chapter or 2 at the most. I dont even like the sound of 2 though. The illuminati is actually the people on the planet who know and are in contact with our alien creators. The reason that money is so unevenly distributed and there is widley mass produced food and urbanization in cities is to increase and maximize the amount of people and genes our species can produce with the uneven distribution of wealth as our natural selection to find the best genes. They don't want people to know because of religious differences, shock, etc. Going into the history of how area 51 is when the aliens first let our species know we are a science experiment. Noting our discovery of fission as a sign to initiate speeding up our evolutionary progress. that right there could be drawn out into like atleast half of a chapter. We could put a short instanse in the book about how the universe being so massive that there are more unmanned spacecraft flying around in space than manned spacecraft because of species dying out over long distance space travel. C'mon nobody else?
  17. So I go this idea, what if we all banded together, brainstormed, and collaborated on a book? I think we have enough creative minds here to establish a really good scifi novel. I have my own idea for a book with a theme. I mean what if we all worked together and did come up with an awesome book that was a bestseller? Anyways here is my idea for the book. An alien species roaming space trying to find all answers possible in science. The human race is actually a science project being conducted by the aliens. They are at war with another alien species who are only interested in spreading the life of there own species. The species who created the human race go around every planet they find and try to spread life, and help get life going out in space to help find answers to science. The end of the book will focus on them trying to keep the hostile species away from our solar system. While they are trying to help the human race establish life in space and a colony of space-ships and establish biodomes and atmospheres on the rocky planets in our solar system. The theme of this book will be to getting off this planet and sustaining life in space. We will show this theme by how the aliens show humans to get off the planet and by a showing history of both helpful and hostile aliens. Although personally I would like to have the helpfull aliens unsure of there past, only knowing they were cut off from there species eons ago when they were dying out but have come back and flourished. Losing the knowledge of their past in the process. With the aliens being a calm, curious, and helpful species who have evolved past things like fear, anger, and recreational activities. I can write a rough draft of the story and then all of us build off that, or we can brainstorm here? If I can get atleast 10 people to say they will help work on this project, i'll write the rough draft. If this does happen all proceeds will go to the website. Lehgo!
  18. I'm sure intelligence has a good deal to do with food. I mean intelligence is something we have evolved to procreate, sustaining energy is a top priority. Although I don't think that just because food comes easier to get that we would stop getting any smarter. Although it could effect the speed we evolve intelligence. Intelligence also has alot to do with emotions, I mean your mood has alot to do with what your thinking right? I wonder if humor would still be an emotion present in a relatively highly advanced space fering alien species. What emotions would be the strongest? Would recreational activities be a thing of the past? Humans are a curious species who are less fearful to do new things than most the other animals on our planet. Would fear even be a relevant emotion in an alien species? Maybe something more like a deep concern?
  19. We will not evolve out of prejudice. I would think that prejudices will always be around, even once we have evolved into just one race. There will likley still be geographical and cultural differences stemming into problems. Although maybe, if we sustain life in space that could be a thing of the past. Who knows.
  20. So this is probably the coolest thread i've seen on SF, and this is all you guys have to say?
  21. I don't know the in depth structure of SR but am I atleast right about the jist of SR being that the speed of light is a constant we can use to determine things about the universe?
  22. Time is what you perceive it to be. Its relative to your own perception. Special relativity, like you said to look at. Their is no absolute defined state of rest, we had to find a constant frame of reference with that being the speed of light and when things move faster than the speed of light it has an effect on time. I see where you were going with that, telling the OP to look at special relativity and that time is not constant. Although I think your misunderstanding the OP, Or maybe I am. Although from what I understand he is saying time is not the incremental system we know relatively to us, with years and days etc. Time is something much more than we can perceive. I don't fully understand special relativity, although if the OP is right and what I do understand is right. Time is a variable that needs to be better understood.
  23. Look at how environment can effect animals. There is some animal which is not feline but looks almost just like a cat because it has adapted to its environment with no other felines around to take its place. I doubt they would look exactly like us, at the same time they couldn't be much different. Intelligence, I would assume that there emotions are somewhat like ours. Although to be able to make it off their planet and be spacefering, I would think anger would be subsided compared to ours. Now thats an alien species in itself. An alien species that has mastered the ability to sustain life in space, should be very different from us. I would assume the stereotypical large dark eyes to draw in as much light as possible. You know they would try to conserve as much energy as possible on there space-ship. There skin and lungs would have to be somewhat different, I mean you could make the comparison of fish to us. I doubt after years(lots of years, thousands) of evolutionary advancement that the atmospherical conditions in a ship would be the same as in the biosphere on their home planet. At some point I would think they would try to maximize the conservation of their resources which would greatly effect the way they look. Back to intelligence, Personally I think intelligence is based off (or builds from and has a lot to do with) emotions. I would think that an alien space faring species would be alot more subtle compared to us in aspects of our two most primitive emotions, fear and anger. I wonder if they might possibly have developed new emotions stemming from empathy, curiosity, and love into something that wants to find answers of the universe and spread life. Or could they possibly go the other direction and in fear of the demise of their own species, at all costs do anything to sustain their own life. I'm willing to bet, from the numbers of solar systems and galaxies alone that both exist in the universe.
