  3. I think their will always be discretions even if we are all one race, untill we have a universal culture. I see the human race completely mixing races before we reach a universal culture.
  4. What if god is every bit of matter, energy, consciousness in the universe together as a collective conscious? What if god is a flying spaghetti monster? What if god is a douche who cares alot about what people think of him and knows the future but still gets pissed about things that happen like the bible implies? Who knows, who cares, you can't prove or disprove either of it. Which should give you an indication right there..
  5. First evidence of widespread use of fire, whatever. Thats besides the point. Okay our brains shrinking is kind of the jist of it. Australopithecus, i'm willing to bet they were a little easier to piss off or agitate and easier to scare than a homosapien. Sure there are many neurological and hormonal differences between our brain and the Australopithecus. More differences than just size and shape, but lobes and stuff. that 2.6 million year difference, projected forwards to me is the best indication of what we can expect extraterrestrial intelligence to look like. The whole evolutionary history of man is off topic I guess but I was just trying to get the point of my question across.
  6. Intellectuals solve problems, geniuses prevent them. I think Einstein said this, although theres all kinds of quotes on the internet with his face that he never said. Anyways this sense of doubt I speak of, something to fuel someone to prevent a catastrophic event. Being able to analyze problems in our system. Pondering at if they might get worse, better, or how to make it better.
  7. I thinks its good to look at humanity with a sense of pride for the fact that we have made it this far in the past few hundred years with overcoming things like slavery and racial discrimination. While at the same time having a sense of doubt, something to strive us to overcome things like war and monetary corruption.
  8. Before we can ponder as to what a relatively advanced alien species might look like, lets look a segment of our own evolutionary history. http://www.hypermodern.org/index.php/science/anthropology/4-from-australopithecine-to-homo-sapien http://humanorigins.si.edu/evidence/human-evolution-timeline-interactive lets talk about ole lucy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucy_(Australopithecus) Okay so 2 million years, blink of an eye to the universe. Our species's perspective, a whole nother story. Anyways Australopithecus is somewhat different than a Homosapien. What are the differences in their brain as to ours? This is right around the time we first started using tools and walking on 2 legs. using tools. Also right around the time the ASPM gene showed up http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASPM_(Gene) http://genome.wellcome.ac.uk/doc_WTD020880.html So what is it that spiked the speed for our brains to evolve in size? who knows. Rapid climate change is the best supported answer i've found, the argument is debated. Who says size matters anyways. Only 125,000 years ago We have the earliest recording of the use of fire, around the time our brains stopped growing in size. For some reason I wrote recordation instead of recording, when I went to fix it the first word was "retardation." I'm becoming more and more convinced each day. We don't know a whole lot about the differences in our brains but there are some from 2.6 million years ago. Project our brains 2.6 million years into the future, where do you see it? THAT IS MY QUESTION DOE!
  9. I'm in the same boat as you, and by no means am an expert on anything. Just what i'm finding is to do what you are most passionate about, follow what you love, seek what intrigues you, Steve Jobs did it. That man was a visionary, watch his speech to the 2005 graduating class of Harvard. I don't care what anyone says, bill gates is a scumbag. Steve invented the mouse, the whole concept of having a cursor to move around on a computer. 3D pixelated graphics. Among with much much more people are oblivious to. Btw just go up to your closest establishment of higher learning. They will be able to get you on your feet and looking towards where you need to go. I just started college, took some entry/placement tests, filed for my FAFSA grant ( these are government grants which will pay some of your education, and they are free ) http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ - is the link, claimed state residency, and now i'm a part time student. I'm at a crossroads between physics and psychology. Unsure yet which path to take but regardless I can always take the other after i've mastered one of them
  10. Behind every argument is someones ignorance.

  11. In an argument, all you have to do is not get mad. If you can do that, you always win.

  18. well do you agree with me atleast that the likelihood for a space-faring alien species to be somewhat shaped like a human with limbs that can grasp? An imaginative discussion is what i'm looking for upon as to what an alien species that is capable of space travel, what their brains would look like. The only thing we really have to build off is our own, its the only species we know capable of space travel. Looking at our own brain, what do you think could change after thousands of years in space. Maybe I should just look at the history of the mapping and functions of the human brain and the brains from our evolutionary past, stop being lazy, and ponder upon this myself.
  19. You disagree? Please inform me on why, rather than just a "nope." No way to intelligently speculate on that? Well lets set the octopuses aside. Lets go with what he have, our own brains. Ofcourse this is all imaginative. Unless you see our brains staying the same forever, even if we do make it to sustaining our species life in space?
  20. I'm not setting myself up for a fallacy of a perfect place, nowhere is perfect and i'm sure there will be things about Sweden I don't like. Especially alcohol being expensive. However I really want to experience a different culture, the way Sweden goes about handling human rights to me reflects upon their culture. I'm also sick of patriotism here among our military. I'm sick that every time I buy something my taxes go towards a military such as Americas. I like how Sweden is a neutral country. I'm sure there will be plenty to learn about what I do and don't like there. You know I even tried to contact the Swedish government and become a refugee, however just because i'm a pacifist in a excessively militant country does not make me one . Looks like I have to wait until I have the right funds to move to Sweden, get a job, and claim citizenship.
  21. Oh I plan on playing a different game, called getting the F out this country and moving to Sweden ASAP. I agree with you though man, although there is too much money tied up into all those systems to talk anyone into changing them. Our prisons are privatized, book companies are in ties with our educational system, the FED and banking industry, things like that alone should point out flaws in our government. Yes I agree we sort of, our society evolved too fast for our government to compensate with the rapid change. I don't think the problems in our country can be fixed, this is where most of my pessimism towards humanity came from. I'm moving to Sweden and hoping the best for America.
  22. I think we all can agree that a humanoid form brought upon by environment is going to be something close to what an alien species capable of space travel will look like. Now, what are the possibilities of their brain to look like? What could their intelligence look like?
  23. I wasn't asking anything the first quote. Twisted sense of humor? I guess you could call it that. btw how come nobody has realized semjase is a troll? Don't feed the troll.
  24. We don't necessarily feel the atmospheric pressure because of, well even if you go to a different elevation your not going very far in either distance of the threshold amount of pressure to support our bodies. Your not going to feel what your used to, although break the threshold and you notice or "feel" the pressure.
