  2. A lot of the things you've mentioned would be considered luxuries (even by our standards a laptop is a luxury item). Plus where the hell am I going to plug it in?? I'm talking in the sense of necessary items - the bare minimum for survival.
  3. "how would they have a functioning economy?" I'm not sure they would need one. What do people need? Food/water Shelter/warmth Provided they had these things, why would they need anything else?

    Pi

If the nature of space changes so will the value of pi What I'm asking is can the geometry of space alter pi?
  5. "It begins with the imparticle. The imparticle is invisible, having no distinct qualities, having no energy or value. Since we can't identify an imparticle, we have to imagine one." I see problems here... "having no distinct qualities" or "not existing" "having no energy or value" or "not existing" "Since we can't identify an imparticle, we have to imagine one." And you did but it gets you nowhere "But as I said very clearly, the bonding process and the disbanding process is instantaneous--why?--because the process takes NO ENERGY and therefore cannot take up any amount of "time"." Then by definition there has been no bonding or disbanding because for something to have "happened" there needs to be a frame of reference for it to happen in. Your theory goes like this: "I propose that the whole universe is made of something undefinable and undetectable and thats why things happen. All evidence for this is beyond our perception, but I am soOOooO clever I worked it out (but not with maths or reasoning because Imparticle's are undetectable to those). So I ask you to prove me wrong if you can and until you do, I will accept this as true" There is no evidence There is no way to test it The is no way to falsify it It makes no predictions Can you please at least give your reasons for coming to the conclusion that such a thing exists? How did you discover the undiscoverable???
  6. Beautiful... if thats not the pinacle of conciousness, what is?
  7. OK here it is... The Egyptians were very clever people and although they did not have the maths to support their knowledge that does not mean they did not have the knowledge - skills passed down from generation to generation that worked very well, before people knew of gravity we did not float around in space - just because you cant describe it (mathematically) very well does not mean you cant understand it in some way or use it. Many ancient cultures were obsessed with the stars (they are amazing even to me, I stare at them at night) and this is understandable and can be seen throughout history. They tracked their movements and mapped them quite accurately, the fact that they lined up stuctures with them is not accidental or surprising. As for lighting http://www.theforbiddenknowledge.com/chaptera/index.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baghdad_Battery This is a possibilty that I certainly cant rule out Lastly, if aliens came to earth and built pyramids and gave us knowledge, where are they now? surely there would be a lot of empirical evidence that proved they were here (spaceships and remains). Why would they do any of these things?
  8. "How a clock does interaction with flow of time? I guess nobody is able to answer that question." I don't think clocks interact with the flow of time, thats like saying that using a ruler changes the length of an object being measured
  9. I would guess, because you are speculating! This is not exactly mainstream science and is mostly speculation on your part "I think that it is great theory..." It's not a theory until A) it makes some predictions B) it is testable Until then its speculation "...but there is no man like Einstein to appreciate it." Einstein? Really? Einstein (being a scientist) would also categorize this as speculation until it meets the required parameters of a theory
  10. "Firstly imagine nothing. Infinite nothingness, pretty easy to comprehend right?" Um.... No. No space, no time, no matter, no energy. How can nothing be described as infinite? Infinite is a measure, how can you measure nothing? What do you measure it against? Definitely having trouble comprehending this one. "Now the engine which runs the universe which makes it possible for us to be here, is gravity. Gravity causes movement which creates the infinite energy I talked" But gravity is a product of matter, and there isn't any - what's the gravitational pull of nothing? "It exploded with infinite energy and straight away is trying to reduce its energy (entropy)" universal entropy increases, it doesn't decrease. "The universe will create things at random while at the same time the creation of the universe is random. This is the theory of Randomness." I dont think the universe creates things at random
  11. "Point B is inacurate. Sports does benefit society....." Ok fair point, but not in the same way as medicine or preventing the build up of rubbish. Here's my crazy idea from reading the above: What if everything was non profit? Eliminate money entirely. People work to produce the things that we need, but they are given to whoever needs them. This eliminates "sales companies". I'll use my line of work as an example: We sell network equipment, Cisco, HP etc... but in this model you dont need to "sell" anything so my company (and a lot of others) are no longer necessary as the "sales" process is redundant. This frees up all those people to share the workload for production, each person works about 3 hours a day doing something thats needs doing rather than just competing with another company trying to sell the same product into the same market. Could this ever work?
  12. Have you never heard of a little thing called, oh I don't know...... relativity?? Relativity does not disallow time travel outright but it's certainly no proof that it's possible or ever will be. Time dilation is a localised slowing of the effects of time not time itself. Time is a measurement, trying to travel in time is like trying to travel in Celcius

    Pi

The thing is... without any maths or measuring you just look at it and think "it's going to be 3" then it turns out it's off by .14, it's annoying.... But my point is: can the value of pi be altered by the bending/warping of space through expansion? The universe is roughly 14 billion years old and pi is roughly 14 points off 3 - could these be related? Again I am speculating my ass off here...
  14. Hi all, What would you do to make society better? I've always thought it's crazy to pay footballers £1000's ( or more) every week to do something that A) They love, and B) Does not benefit society when the people that do benefit society are often underpaid - doctors and refuse collectors (without which we would be knee deep in filth and disease within a month) spring to mind What about fair distribution of wealth/work? Any ideas?
  15. IamJoseph, on 12 December 2011 - 02:24 AM, said: No sir - it does not. Same spot has no real meaning, other than whatever some agenda based sci-fi artists wants to make of it. The said imprint can be commonplace to all life yet not align with your conclusion; the commonality can be imited to life per se. Call me when you show why no half way chimp-human living transits appear; why did the on-going process cease. There was yet no centre; yet no point. It is scientifically impossible for the universe to be initiated with one singular entity! Every stated discovery made by ToE advocates, including alledged fossil findings, have been proven wrong, false and corrupt. ______________________________________________ I have several problems with some of the things you've said here... I will address the main ones. Firstly: Call me when you show why no half way chimp-human living transits appear; why did the on-going process cease. Do you accept that humans selectively bred modern dogs from wolves? If so, do you now see that it would be silly to ask "Why are there no half wolf/labradors?" The process didn't stop, wolves are still evolving to better suit their environment - they're just not evolving into labradors - thats not how it works Common ancestry does not mean that "some chimps turned into people" (evolution never said this - it is a straw man that creationists like to trot out from time to time). Chimps and humans share a common ancestry, thats all, nobody is saying that chimps are what we looked like 30 thousand years ago. Secondly: Every stated discovery made by ToE advocates, including alledged fossil findings, have been proven wrong, false and corrupt. How do you justify this statement? How can you falsify dinosaur bones found independently of each other in different parts of the world at different times? You've used the word "proven", would you care to share this "proof"? Edit: I am quoting you from your other thread, please answer as best you can

    Pi

"You'd fit in well in Ancient Greece" I'm choosing to take this as a compliment! Edit: Having now read the link I realise its not... Stupid Hippasus get off my boat

    Pi

"pi is determined by the metric of space" Exactly my point, a circle drawn on an irregular surface will have a slightly different value of pi. What if the expansion of the universe is changing the "metric of space"?

    Pi

Just to reiterate - this is pure speculation. Pi has always annoyed me, 3.14159265358979323846264338327950288419716939937510 is not sensible to my mind. Surely Pi should be 3? A nice rational number. Which made me wonder, with the expansion of the universe essentially stretching the fabric of space/time, could Pi be moving? What I maen is: in the early universe could Pi have been closer to my ideal 3? Any comments welcome as always...
  19. would you care to provide some evidence or proof of these fairly wild claims?
  20. http://www.bigbangblogs.org/knowledge-bank/science-and-maths/weird-world/can-water-flow-uphill Waterwheel that feeds itself?
  21. Firstly, I have to admit to not reading the entire thread here... But, what about animals who live by the waters edge and see their reflections all the time? I'm thinking certain fishing birds... Surely they know
  22. Since the future doe not yet exist and the past is by definition "the past" - how could you travel to either? The only time you can exist in is the "present" Time travel makes very little sense for a lot of reasons, first answer the question "what is time?" and then, not only will you be well ahead of my understanding, you'll also see that "time" is not something you can mess with - it's more just a concept, a frame of reference to give things like motion some meaning
  23. an octopus is not to be messed with, very clever creatures Did you see the video?
  24. Yes, magnets are a nightmare to work with. I bought some VERY stong neodymium magnet a few months ago to expiriment with. They would frequently jump together with such force that they would catch bits of my skin between them and split it (I took to calling them "magnet bites"), if I was lucky enough to get out of the way they would either shatter or become very difficult to get them apart again. I got one of my friends to put one either side of his ear lobe for fun, it took him about 20 minutes of sreaming to get them off
