Pi is a well defined mathematical concept, based on mathematical description of circles. Any drawing at any level will be an approximation.
  3. When it comes to black holes, dark matter will most likely act like ordinary matter. Once past the event horizon a dark matter particle will stay inside the black hole.
  4. Maybe you and I have a different concept of synthetic division. Any polynomial can be divided by a polynomial of equal or lower degree and get a polynomial quotient and a remainder. When the remainder = 0, then there is division. P.S. I looked up the definition, via Google. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synthetic_division Your definition is for regular synthetic division. Mine is for expanded synthetic division.
  5. Your last statement is not true. If 3i and -3i are roots, you can divide by x^2 + 9.

  7. What is the problem you are addressing? The original question was about recovering data accidentally deleted and I suggested that one should always send things to the recycle bin so they can be recovered when wanted. Your answer seems to be about cleaning a drive.

  12. You are using the term "quantum" as if it were a unit of something. This is unusual.
  13. IF it is true, then a lot of physics will have to be gone over from scratch. My opinion, eventually an explanation will be found so that the speed of light is not exceeded.
  14. When you leave out the mass of a second body, you are talking about a force field. F=M*a is a force on an object, where it is located. Electromagnetic force is also inverse square. The other two fundamental forces (weak and strong nuclear forces) are not.

  16. Another approach is using special relativity. E=Mc^2. M=m/√(1-(v/c)^2) Therefore E=mc^2 + (mv^2)/2 + .... The first term is the rest energy and the second term is the kinetic energy. Here M = total mass, m = rest mass.
  17. I'm not sure what you mean by "how random walk works". A discrete random walk (which is what you seem to be asking about) consists of a series of steps by a particle, starting someplace. Each node has a set of neighboring nodes (the number depends on the dimension - for one-d, it is two; for higher dimensions it depends on the problem definition). In any case, the choice of the next node depends on some probability. One-d example: p is the prob of moving to the right, q is the probability of moving to the left. p+q = 1 (ignoring possibility of not moving). Also p and q could depend on the current position and could also change with the step count.
  18. Since the standard model explains just about everything else about particle physics, I don't believe it will go away. The theory is not wrong, but it is incomplete. The Higgs particle is an attempt to fill in a gap. Theoreticians will have to think up something else if the Higgs is not found.

  21. There is no symmetry. Twin(a) is always in one inertial frame. Twin (b) starts in the same frame as twin (a), then changes to a frame going away from (a), next changes to a frame going back to (a), and finally stopping in the frame of (a). Go through the Lorentz transforms for distance and time for (b) and get the expected result.
