  1. I don't know what those first two options are.[/quote']Both of them are fast food restaurants in the US.
One serves endangered Chinese bear dishes, the other was named after Whitechapel Jack the Ripper, and features shredded prostitute sandwiches.

Bet you never eat at these places again (Sayo, we really do need an evil smiley).

Then again, Callipygous loves gross jokes....

  2. The Abyss was very good, too.
Some fine acting in The Abyss as well. I really felt the panic when they had to breathe in that oxygenated fluid to equalize their lung pressure. That's my favorite of the deep ocean movies. Except I hated the end where all those V-hulled boats were sitting upright on the alien ship. Not good, not good at all.

I think a good ending can make a bad flick tolerable, but a bad ending sours the best of them.

  3. Chapter 5, paragraph 4.
I stand (or sit, perched atop a struggling, elegant, silken-coated gazelle-like creature) corrected.

Still, if they're going to key on a line or two, I'd rather they spent that time on something more entertaining, like Eccentrica Gallumbits, the triple-breasted whore of Eroticon 6. Much more fun to be sat on by her. ;)

  4. I enjoyed it very much. The musical number was 40's and campy and zany and set the mood just fine. Brilliant choice for Zaphod's second head, I wondered how they were going to handle that. Tickled me every time it popped up (and every time he put it back).

Considering all the wealth to choose from, it was strange sometimes to see what they put the emphasis on. Since the Vogon crabby-things weren't mentioned originally, I was dismayed at the amount of resources they spent on them which could have been used elsewhere.

The bit you missed in the credits was worth the wait. It's one of my favorite little asides in the books.

  5. As to the lofty credentials of the people you quoted, well, just let me say that I have heard some quite incredible opinions from some very well placed and well educated people.
Guilt by association fallacy. You could discredit everyone's citations with this argument.
  6. i think if it were up to a vote, this system would have a fair chance. it wouldn't change the daily lives much of anyone but the rich and poor. poor would have a better life and it isn't like they would be taking anything from the rich. there are far more poor and middle class than rich.
The richest 10% have more money than the bottom 90%. You would have to unite 90% of the people for a vote, while the richest people only have to convince 10% of the people to spend enough to squash your efforts and maintain the status quo. Don't forget that those 10% control the major media.
  7. The more efficient the word is in addressing the feelings construct, the more the feeling construct can react and become accessable and the more concentration in applying these words you would have to have.
    Try this:

Choose your words carefully and your audience will more clearly sense your meaning.

Everything is not what it seems. Angels and Demons are actually aliens. The ones in control of this earth are the rebel aliens and the head of them is the alien called Satan.

While I would agree that words and the things we say to ourselves and others hold a vast potential for good or ill, I think you need to post your future messages into smaller chunks. Preferably ones that don't encompass so many negatively charged concepts like reborn biblical figures, aliens, demons and government conspiracies. It paints a picture of you that probably isn't accurate, and in it, you're wearing tinfoil on your head.

  8. if a child watches absolutely no TV while all the other kids around him do, then there are certain conventions and social customs that the kid who doesn't watch TV is deprive off. Don't you think?
I think anything that parents deny wholesale to their children is likely to become a focus of hostility. Humans don't like being denied anything. If I told you you can have anything except the privilege of watching a certain TV show, that's the show you're going to be the most curious about. And if I continue to deny it to you after repeated requests to watch it, eventually you will resent me.

I also think most of TV is garbage. I grew up with TV but I am very picky about what I watch. I only watch maybe 4 hours a week so I choose carefully, tape the good stuff and fast forward during commercials.

They mentioned 24 in the article and I love that show for its complexity, but only because a buddy buys the DVDs and loans them to me, so I watch them sans commercials and I don't have to wait a week between episodes.

  9. Yet all of you pour your love out to complete strangers, forfeiting all its value[/i'].
If klanger was complete, she wouldn't be seeking knowledge here.

If you were complete, you would know that reading a little Nietzsche doesn't make you a philosopher.

As for forfeiting value, now that's something I sense you know about. Too bad you weren't around long enough to discuss that.

  10. Are you going to call us nazis next?
Seems pretty obvious that you and Syphill joined up as tag-team trolls with the idea that being provacative was the same as being interesting.
  11. I'm not going to see it when it opens, but that's just because I've been wanting to read the books for a while and don't want to 'ruin it' for myself by seeing the movie first.
Very smart. As J'Dona mentioned, so much of Douglas Adams wit is between the dialogue, so without a narrator repeating those words, any movie is going to fall short.
I think just the first one' date=' with an extra sub-plot.[/quote']Whew! Though I would love to see what these guys would come up with for the Restaurant at the End of the Universe, I was not looking forward to seeing the first three books crammed into one movie. I never watch trailers of movies I want to see, so I had no idea.
Is pj's and a bath robe with the towel too much.
    No. Be comfortable.
  12. Wow, it's a shame there are no Gir stand ups on me. *cough* hint *cough*

Hey everybody, Nevermore's in the audience! In raven language, his name means, "Man, are YOU depressing!" I'm glad he finally decided to join us at the comedy club. Nevermore has obsessive-compulsive disorder, so it's taken him seven months to decide where to sit. Good choice, right next to the gorgeous AzurePhoenix. Ooops, he accidentally touched her knee, which would normally be OK with Azure, but with his OCD he now has to do it 99 more times. Good luck explaining that, groping-boy! I've tried to tell him that his OCD helps with things like math and keeping his room tidy, but I made the mistake of telling him he has to see the glass as half full, not half empty. He spent a week filling a glass exactly half full. Uh-oh, looks like AzurePhoenix is not buying his explanation. She's going to break all the fingers on his right hand, and that'll just make him uneven. Don't hit him, sweetie, just give him a road map to fold!

  13. The problem is, today people aren't happy unless they can hurt you in some way, and it's simply not rational, nor fair, to expect someone to sit back and accept abuse of such a kind.
And while I think you handled the "turn-or-burn" trash in the right manner considering the circumstances, personal retaliation is not always the way to react.

That's why God gave us monkeys.

And whisks for them to wield.

  14. Now this brings up an interesting point.

By saying that' date=' you recognize the "post" as a scientific credit.[/quote']Speaking of interesting scientific points, voting for all four choices in your own poll skews the results a bit, doesn't it?

i suppose it actually just encourages the mindless postwhoring to spread out into other forums to raise their post count, doesnt it?
We have ways of dealing with that. :D
  15. phi if you e-mail your address I will mail youa copy of my brochure and press release so that you can see one instance of the motor.
I'm reluctant to give you my address. If you can scan the pages (black & white, 100-200 dpi) I can walk you through how to attach it to one of your posts here, so everyone can see it.
