  1. yeah aluminium burns readily in standard conditions(apart from temperature unless atomised) when the temp gets above about 500C.

At 500C it would take along time to melt. In our foundry most Al melts are pre heated at 450C and even at 600 - 700C it takes about 30 mins to melt.

We are talking about melting not vapourizing too right?

Magnesium on the other had melts at similiar tempertures but after 850C (approximately) it starts reacting with oxygen which has the possibility to reach up to 2000+C (It sure is fun to melt.)

This all is under the assumption of pure metals too.

  2. I used to wear sandals all the time to the place I used to work. My boss told me that about 10 years ago, someone got bitten by a brown recluse and had to go to the hospital, and almost lost his finger. Then one time, [b']I'm in the bathroom sitting on the toilet, and up crawls a little brown recluse friend, fiddleback and all, inches from my toe. Fortunately, my first instinct was smashy smashy.[/b]

  3. the problem is Gutz, that these people will not stop until their 'cause' is fufilled[/b']. And that cause is the complete irradication of the state of Israel. That is simply not an option, and we shouldn't appease the radical groups just because they never learned how to play nice.

I agree with that. I Don't think I would enjoy having Canada wiped off the map, whether or not it's an attack against the Government or the People.

I do understand where you are coming from though. Just different ways of reaching the goal or what is believed to be the most effieicent way of ending it. I think we both want minimal causalities. I really do hope it stops.

    @Bettina

I was more referring to the area specifically

  4. The "war on terror" is very real. Its just that people like Severian choose to ignore it. He seems to be trying to smooth over his remarks now' date=' but his earlier posts tell me all I have to know about his mindset. He's very good at what he does and that mindset appears in many countries who wish to stand idle and let some other country worry about fighting terrorism. [/quote']

    ter·ror·ism ( P ) Pronunciation Key (tr-rzm)

    n.

The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.

Fighting terrorism isn't all about guns and bombs. This is what I was trying to explain. As long as people feel the need to join in the terrorist group, you will always have problems. The ideology is limitless. If you fight them, they will fight back harder, you give them reason to exist. In that case the violence is justified.

I am not saying just let it go either, but you have to understand too that by interfering you could and most likely will be putting people at risk, peoples families. In chao, it's natural to want to jump in to save something. It's very hard to sit an watch a situation that you can not change alone, but there are other solutions.

Say the US does go in, it stops for maybe a few months, then they leave. What in our history tell us that they wont just go at it again?

The best solution is to get the two to stop fighting on their own. If not how are you going to stop them without going in and possibly killing not only people from the middle east, but people from NA/europe/etc.

People are going to die. It's a really hard fact to swallow. I think rash thoughts and actions can be as dangerous as waiting it out.

This is why I hate the lack of power of the UN. It's so pointless to have it if the one thing it was created for, it can't even do.

  5. Your way of thinking was expected so I'm not stunned by your attitude. Sit back and let some other country fight evil for you. Get uninvolved. Build a brick house. Raise the Iranian flag over it and change it to whoever is a threat at the moment.

This is not a personal attack. Your in a very large group of people who turn a blind eye to the evil that faces civilization.

    Bettina

There is a point where you realise too though that you can not change someone or a situation for the better. The sad thing is that there are alot of people that want nothing to do with it, and they get killed.

    It's just a rediculous situation.

Whether we help or not, it's still going to be a mess.

    Terrorism is sadistically effective.

  6. There is a video ( I don't know if its real) of GW drunk with a drink in hand talking to a reporter or something. Quite funny.

    http://politicalhumor.about.com/od/bushvideos/v/bushwedding.htm

    On Topic:

I find it interesting to see how people converse behind the scene. I have a strong feeling that the government and advisors has a strong hold on what GW says, and that he is quite intelligent naturally, but they don't allow him to express himself.

Doesn't help that he isnt the greatest public speaker.

  7. I had quite the phobia for Bees because when I was younger (like 6 or 7) I stepped into a wasp (or yellow jacket?) nest, got stung like...it was either 17 or 12, 5 on the chest including or excluding. They didn't die, and there were millions of them. The worst was that I was screaming and one managed to get on my tongue and stung me there too.

    *shudders*

I use to scream like a little girl too, but now I just scream like a big girl when I see them. Actually I am not too scared of them anymore. I will do a little dance though when one gets frisky with me, saying something like "I'll kick your @#$!!!"...People stare at me when I do that :(

The only thing I hate is when someone crushes them, but naturally most insects creep me out, except pray mantis, kung fu is strong with that one.

  8. The fact that redbull has warnings that say "red bull doesn't actually give you wings" in it's commercial make me very sad. Here in Canada Tim Horton cups have warnings like "This coffee is hot".

    -_-'

The hell! How will this evolve? How far will it go?

Commerical: A friendly message from your local police "Please don't step in front of cars."

maybe shoes with instructions... Place feet in shoes. stand up, move one leg foward and then the other, balance is key.

I tell you, it's hard to optimisic with this world.

  9. Answer this..

Everyone in this world dies. 1000 years go by… God comes down and resurrects everyone but before he resurrects everyone he gives everyone 2x magnification eyes.

Say we forget how we saw the world in our previous life!! Will we wake up and carry on as normal??

Will we carry on as normal although our eyes see things twice as large and we would think this is normal but actually it was twice as small in our previous life!! Have I lost you?

Yeah I believe it would. Since everything you see would be double it's size, but we calculate in our mind how big something is compared to some thing else (reference). Take a car for example. With nothing around you can't know how big it actually is. On earth we can grasp it's by comparing it to it's surroundings. Like the distance from you to the car, or a nearby tree.

If you didn't have these things you couldn't know for sure. It may seem small like lets say a star, but it's so far away it only appears to be small, while in actual fact it's a lot larger then it seems.

So if we had double the maginifaction I don't think it would change much since your comparing to the surrounds that are also double the size. Like take a basketball court with players that are 4 feet tall. Double the size of the court, players, and the distance from the court it should appear to be the same even though the players and the court are much larger. You need that reference though like swasont said, I believe that's what he meant that there is no absolute length. It just seems that way because we are use to a pretty stationary reference such as the earth.

Does this have anything to do with how light acts over distance? It has to do something with light since our eye gets information from light so....

  10. I'd like to look into biological/genetic engineering first before we all convert ourselves (which I believe will happen eventually). I think biological aspects still are worth looking into...but then again it might be envitably dependant on IA to get to "that" stage where we can construct/change/manipulate biological matter anyway we want.

How would the transhumanist workout evolution? A collective consciousness is nifty but isn't it possible it's somewhat limited? I guess one could say the same for any biological form, both heading for perfection with different routes and waiting periods.

  11. Maybe YT has some more realistic ideas, I believe he is an engineer. Even if he isn't he's pretty smart.

When you get it all finish can you bring pictures and show on this site? I would be interested to see how it all works out.

    p.s.

I am hoping that "someone" from the MOD team or IRC goers see this and tell YT to reply here. *hint* *hint* :D

  12. Maybe you could send a signal to a controller type thing, to some homemade pneumatic or hydraulic lift thats attached to the scoop. I am not that much of a car junkie either (well besides the 68-69 chevelle), but won't this all interfer with the engine + whatever else? How big is it (engine), do you have enough room?

Are you having the scoop lift level with the hood or have it catch under it? Sounds like a cool project though.

  13. The fact that he was provoked makes no difference, under any circumstance he should of got a red card and it would have been ridiculous if he hadn't. But saying that I guess he does deserve some respect for making the match that little bit more entertaining.

True, but where was the red card for the headbutt in the Portugal vs Netherlands game, it only got a yellow card, nevermind the flying front kick to the chest.

    /mumbles vanity

He connected with him pretty good though lol. Maybe he was going down to tie his shoe, while running at the same time, but missed stepped forward, and "accidentially" hit him. Could of happened :P

Personally I think France controlled that game. It's unfortunate that they missed that one penalty kick but it was clearly not in, very close though. I hate penalty kicks though, I'd rather see it played till someone scored, but penalty kicks are quite exciting and quick. You only hate it if "your" team loses. :(

Now I have to wait another 4 years in hope that the Netherlands might win it. IT COULD HAPPEN!

  14. anyone else notice that TSOLKAS is almost an Anagram of "Ass Talk"?

or is it just Me and my warped imagination?

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

That is the greatest random comment on these boards. Thank you that made my day.

    Ontopic:

Put it to the test! I want to see nature duplicate it, or rather your result duplicate nature. Untill then when a ball is dropped it goes up not down.

  15. When I was 13 I use to smoke "marijuana". Dumb idea, but I think it was better to the alternative (I wasn't...stable). I've tried Shrooms too, but that as far as I ever wanted to go. I did at certain points get use to "pot" where it wasn't statisfying, but unlike others I realized I had to stop using it so damn much.

It's just like alcohol. It's a form of escapism. False utopian. After a while that stairway to bliss starts gaining distance away.

Teenagers should be aware of false realities and smarten up. :D

  16. I'd like to note that this is actually what I've done' date=' to an extent. I still eat a lot of meat, but switcheing from fast-food burgers and the like to chicken subs and such has already brought about noticable health benefits.

Moderation and watching the diet are definitely the key. *Anything* in excess can cause problems, and anyone's dietary habits can have negative consequences (especially if they don't pay any attention to what they eat).

    Mokele[/quote']

Me too kinda. I was amased to see the difference. Not only in aspects of energy but strength (or use of more potential), and specific activity pains.

  17. Exactly. And if your imagination conjurs up images of pedophilia, what does that say about you?

    Apparently I do...

Who says it does? What does it say about people who assume it conjurs up images of pedophilia? These questions go round and round.

I am just saying give the guy a break. No need to make assumptions.

    and Bee,

I think you would change your mind real quick if your child was involved. Maybe not that picture but one thats more ambiguious.

  18. Heh, remember when Steven Segal went on Arsenio and claimed that the government created AIDS to attack the gay/black population? (I guess it's his brother's pet theory)

[steven Segal voice] "The government has once again decieved us. It's time to take some action." $ cutscene $*cocking of m16 with one hand and lighting a cigar with the other*

  19. What if you are into weightlifting or highly active (like..lifting objects(s) 30-40+ kgs quite frequently everyday)? Does it work differently then? i.e. does one persons needs change in that situation. I've been trying to clean up my food intake and replace things with more natural foods, more specificially from fruits and vegetables, so I am just curious.
