  1. I see that you still have that mouse in your pocket when referring to "US", I presume? It makes me feel bad to think that the words of others can be misconstrued so quickly by you. Seriously, some folks scare the bejabbers out of me with their shoot from the hip and zealous inclination to condemn without question. Those with a tangible and cognizant understanding of principalss usually take just a moment to justify such findings, while you somehow seem to do it instantantly. So! all I can say is: "Bless Your Heart"!, That is, since most of us just aren't quite bright enough to make that distinction so quickly.

  2. The case of slant drilling was to some the reason Iraq invaded Kuwait, and is likely true. Also, it can be assumed our country instigated it by supplying such knowledge to the Kuwaitis. And whether it's a Shiekdom or Despots ruling a country, it's immaterial since freedom ain't worth nothing 'less it's free. And while generals are little different than Pvts. when it comes to orders, obeying his superiors was perfectly alright with me as long as Norms guns were trained on an enemy, not us here at home. I respected General Schwarzkopf for what I thought was his grit as a soldier and genius in warfare, along with his lack of political meddling. When he left the military there seemed to be little fanfare, and as I remember; even less, dabbling in politics. Picked this up in the A.M.

    R.I.P. brave and honorable soldier.

  3. The American military now has some 7,000 aerial drones, compared with fewer than 50 some 10 years ago.

Why is it that when someone uses "mistrust of power" as several of us have done to describe our feelings of government, do some idiots take it literally to mean rebellion and/or overthrow of the structure? Again, I ask, Why? Then to envision howitzers, drones, A-bombs, anthrax, bushmasters and all dispicable means fitting into such diabolical methods, describing what we might use to get these foul an evil deeds done. WHOO-EE!!! Get real my friend. If such a scenario was used to describe most people in America today, there would be few politicians or attorneys left to walk the streets. And why! Because they would all be locked away for the wacky shit most of them epitomize. Believe me, I love the type of government we experience. Anything else would be exploratory or passe. As the old saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." At present and for the past two hundred years or so, we as a free nation of people have been allowed to elect our government officials as to our constitution decrees. I never want that process to change .A lot of squabbling yes, but elected they are.The beauty of it all is, If a majority don't like the way things are going, they wait a couple of years and alter it by voting the incumbents out. Am I happy with how government tactics are being used at the moment? Hell No! But when enough people don't like the status quo, change will come legitimately. So lighten up, bed wetters and war mongers. But just remember, when honest people express their convictions openly, they usually have little to hide. But be extremely wary and careful of those who only smile, use intellectual jargon, or say nothing at all.

  4. I'm not quite sure where you got the impression I was, or am a "little terrorist" wanting to destroy our government? In post # 89 I pretty much summed up my early life, upbringing and instincts. "Redneck all the way". There is no doubt Mom and Dad both loved me, but also no doubt either of them would have "turned my liver into mush", had I disgraced them. While I am missing a couple of teeth, have a twang in my voice, remember the Lords Prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance and never gotten farther than High School, 6 of my 7 children have. But since my oldest son decided to make a career of the Navy, to retire as a Master Chief after twenty two years, I digress of my slothful ways. If you can digest hard facts, here is a slight preamble about how to assess "Rednecks"

Secondly, if you get to feeling dejected; go out and look at how simple people actually live.

  5. Some of you were likely only just born and in diapers when this man led the US Army and a cotingent of our allies to liberate the small nation of Kuwait from Saddam Hussain and his thugs from Iraq. This guy, even with his bravado, was a good and decent gentleman.

    .

Our nation lost a great leader when General Norman Schwarzkopf passed from the scene at 78 years of age. “SEMPER FI”
  6. If the US wants you dead, then there's simply nothing you can do. That is a fact.

Also, the whole "we have to be able to defend ourselves from the Government" is advocating for committing the only crime defined in the US Constitution.

Evidently you are referring to treason? Yes, that is the most despicable and heinous crime I can imagine. But it goes equally for a government as for its people..

  7. If he had nukes, drones, seasparrows, carpetbombs, etc. like our government does would having AR-15s make ANY difference? If the USA wants you dead, you're completely screwed no matter what weapons you have.

The "we have to be able to defend ourself from the government" argument is COMPLETE bullshit and *everyone* knows it.

Any belief that freedom and safety, based on fear tactics and supression; denies the claimant of both..

  8. Actually, since I became a Petty Officer so quickly (I made Second Class in just over 2 years after enlistment), I never had KP. I do know we can kill you from a boat when you can't even see the ocean and your Bushmaster won't help you at all. I do know that we can fly a drone over your house and blow you to bits and your Bushmaster won't help you at all. I know we can fly any manner of jet over your house and carpetbomb you and your Bushmaster won't help you at all.

As I said, the "we have to be able to defend ourselves from the government" argument is COMPLETE bullshit and *everyone* knows it.

What's with the "Bushmaster? Is that a weapon or snake? And the K.P. thing, it was a bit of levity. But I'm sure that you are familiar of our own Civil War and Douglas McArthurs crush of the Veterans Bonus March in Washington, D.C. following WW1? God forbid happenings like those, ever again. But only a foolish and/or capricious person would think it could never happen again here in the United States.

The "we have to be able to defend ourself from the government" argument is COMPLETE bullshit and *everyone* knows it.

If you have a military bckground at all, was it blindly relegated exclusively to K.P. duty?

Not at all! But the Syrian people are paying a tremendous price at the moment because of a mad mans desire to use his power of supression to murder his own unarmed civilian population.

  11. Perhaps your vehicle's manual states clearly which fuel to use?

There is information in the manual about what fuels to use in my 2009 including E-10, but nothing on E-15 or above. Isn't it a bit odd that the government just tossed this out to us with no information? But I did find tons of stuff on google. This one for instance.

From your link... pathetic propaganda. What I find sad is your lack of faith in your own system yet you are supposed to be a "true American".. I am presuming you are empathising with the sentiment of the posters

Pathetic propaganda? Are you implying that such a catastrope is beyond happening to this country?

  13. You've been bearing it for centuries now - and much worse. Priorities. The ugly nature of the public schools in the slums is far more serious - in dead children alone, never mind the rest of it - and can be addressed without Constitutional crisis. We've had experience with the unintended consequences of chucking the Constitution and/or coercing everybody - we don't have to make that mistake again, jsut to see what will happen.

We have many more serious problems with child care, education, and so forth. Mass murders like this are way down the list. And if they cannot be usefully addressed without damage to our civil liberties etc, then that lowers them still farther in the emergency response priority hierarchy.

We have gotton totally away from good "Red Neck" answers to many of these problems. While they don't possess a total remedy for each and every case, they do bring a good likeness of sanity to the table for most.

  14. What is the question you're asking about this fuel? For now, it appears you only want to know whether or not others here at SFN are more familiar with it than you.

Yea! Thought someone on the forum might know more about this new fuel than to simply ask another dumb assed question like I did. So, what's your take on the situation?

How do you deal with the issues that meds create? In the case of my son, he can either take the meds, which slows him way down and prevents him from getting any kind of work (he looks and talks like he's stoned), which makes him a leech on society. He can't take care of himself because of how he is perceived. That, of course, triggers more depression and intensifies the symptoms. And it dooms my wife and I to a lifetime of care for a grown man. So much for spending our lives together in peace, that shit's over.

If he doesn't take the meds, he can function, find work and take care of himself. But then the "voice" is stronger, and if anything were to happen, then his refusal to take meds would be "the cause" and blah blah blah.

He cannot win. We cannot win. This is a problem for anyone with mental issues that needs medications. The worse the side effects, the more this is a problem.

Everyone "cares" about mental issues, but no one will hire anyone with mental issues. They have to hide it, and they are chained to the insurance-employer arrangement (that Americans love so much and refuse to change despite the problems it causes), and live in fear of lapses in coverage.

Someone being a danger to themselves and others just doesn't carry any weight, anywhere, anymore. They are not "dealt" with, rather they are bounced around and processed dysfunctionally until they eventually just "go away".

I mean come on, my son believed(s) I was going to murder the family and slept with a bow and arrow next to his bed and that was revealed just 2 months ago as a resident in a psychiatric facility...since his release with "stable meds" no one has even called about him. They wait for them to go away and disappear into the woodwork because they are powerless to do anything. They don't know if he's taking his medications, and they don't have the capacity to care. The consequences are fatal. But, nothing.

To you, concerns for your sons lack of wellbeing can only be slightly different from that of our national debt and how we plan to solve it, My heart goes out to you, your wife and family. Personally, I would have likely been a basket case long before now. My very best.

    I don't see why. Elaborate.

Agreed. I would also say that we need to move away from "locking them up," and instead find ways to treat them and help them as they are identified. Punishment does not ameliorate mental issues. Rehabilitation can. Unfortunately, healthcare in our nation has for too long been a privilege of the wealthy and often not available to those most in need.

I especially liked your comments about Punishment and Rehabilitation.

Face it, the lady was quite wealthy with a 1.5 million dollar home, all of the amenities to go with it, plus her guns and a deranged 20 year old. Tell me, unless you are the one without it; does wealth really matter?

  17. Quote by akh: Maybe we announced it in an attempt to lower moral and to prevent AQ from creating their own narrative.

If we really expected that to happen, then we screwed up royally with such lame excuses to explain the Benghazi debacle. Supposedly in early July of this year after Osama ben Laden's demise, rumor had it that Al Queida was also dead? Problem is, I simply can't find out who started that myth?

    1. There's a trend of these shooters wearing tactical body armor: Aurora, Newtown, Virginia Tech, etc. So what exactly would an armed guard/armed teacher do to stop them?

    2. When trained, armed police took down a would-be shooter outside the Empire State building, they were commended for "only" hitting nine bystanders http://news.yahoo.com/nypd-empire-st...180844387.html http://observer.com/2012/08/breaking...tate-building/ So what's the collateral damage from a teacher, or good Samaritan in a classroom/cinema going to be?

Beauty of the situation was and is: thankfully, none of the nine who were shot by the policemen died. Some day we may find a way around this impass of sanity and insanity, causing such dilemma.

  19. Unfortunately many people assign themselves these ivory tower duties and never realize the harm they do. Dad probably aimed me toward adulthood life the best way that an otherwise uneducated miner knew how by saying: Son, you get in trouble with the law and the heat's on you. Better yet, don't ever call me to get you out of jail. 'causei If you're in there, I'll know soon enough as it is. You knock up some gal, "marry her", but don't bring her home until you have a job to support her and the baby. For those grains of wisdom I can only say: "Thanks Pop."

  20. Tar, you made this comment in post # 76. Quote: Never did build it, but my dream room, as my kids were growing up, was a playroom with a cushioned floor and cushioned walls, and cushioned steps/bleachers, with hinged tops where you could store the toys and such. The girls would be able to jump around and fall and throw things about, and there would be no sharp edges or hard surfaces to hurt them.

Not to make light of the dream romper room you imagined for your kids and one that you likely could never afford, but isn't it rather strange that we provide these very same facilities at tremendous cost to the unbalanced folks in our mental institutions. Funny how life works, isn't it?
