  1. The playstation Portable is like a small laptop, with a 333 MHz processor and 4MB of DRAM, its not exactly a monster, but its nothing a little overclocking can't fix. . That was the question in main, I was wondering if you could actually overclock the system. And while I have the time, might as well ask about an operating system similar to windows, or mac that enables the user to type up word documents, the possibilities are endless, with its WLAN, you could hack systems. The portable gaming device has so much potential...from hacking weaponry to office works...I was wondering what the forum thought about this, and if anyone knows about any projects going on around the PSP.
  2. Here is a question that I decided to post in the engineering section, since engineering is an apotheosis of innovation. I was just curious as to see what kinds of brilliant innovations this would spawn. I'll enter my answer to the problem on January 31st, however, I doubt my answer will be as good as some. Suppose you were put into a room with no windows, and no visible doors. At the center of the room was a light fixture. Your watch, your cell phone, everything that told time, was removed. All you had was your clothes, a pen, a pencil with eraser, a paperclip, and several different coins. Your objective is to build a device which can tell you the time, or time passed, for twenty four hours. How would you do it?
  3. @Md. I understand it is against the rules of to insult members, which is why I won't question your education. LSD is lysergic acid diethylamide, it is aquired from lysergic acid, which is found in ergot, a fungus that grows on rye and other grains. Which means that hallucination induced through smoking cactus is probably acheived through some chemical equivalent to LSD. All you're doing by taking cactus is changing the medium of delivery, however the effects are quite the same. And if you cared to actually read all the posts, you'd realize we don't agree with scientific research because it points to the fact that LSD is not harmful. Please also note, that this is not a psychedellic hippy forum. Now, I want you to insult me by proving me wrong with statistical data, or much more advanced logic. I am inviting your insults.
  4. I feel you clarisse...we're all doomed...doomed i tell you. I have successfully told everybody's futre because its true that we're all doomed, to what you've been doomed to..i dunno, but you are doomed! AS AM I! muahhahhahahahhah sorry off topic there. Now back to the original prompt. I decided to do a quick 5-second cyber poke-around on this subject of forgetfulness. All I found was that its usually the first symptoms of Alzheimer's disease. Pardon me humoring you, but I find myself in that situation as well, sometimes I'll walk in to a room not remembering what the purpose of my visit was and somewhere between those 40 blank seconds of me staring at the wall, two words float across my head "Alzheimer's Disease". I'll probably forget to breath when i'm actually "old".
  5. I apologize but my adolescence is forcing me to reply with this answer, please excuse me: man if you wanna feel tipsy, have an orgasm, its much better than thinking your bed is going to rip you to shreds...
  6. Well if you're joints had 360 degree turning capabilities, you'd have to have skin with high elasticity. This in turn would require high tensile muscle fibers in order to to exist under the conditions with such strain. Now that we've reconfigured your entire anatomy, and discussed that an actual change such as this would go beyond just bone structure, and would require high degrees of genetic modification and/or plastic surgery. You'd be able to do almost nothing special except twist your arms around in grotesque manners and ultimately just turn off the girls that you almost had a chance with to the senior prom. Besides that you could go around scaring the shit out of priests by pretending you're possessed. The imagination's the limit kiddo.
  7. So, in theory, any magnet of that strength would not be able to exist due to its own properties? Do you have the mathematical formulas and equations for this? I'm just curious as I have a very basic knowledge of magnetism myself.
  8. Hello, my name is Akersh, and I'm cool because I like physics, and advanced mathematics. Currently going to high school.
  9. you missed the part where you have 36 chances at rolling a 36 and with a pair of dice there aren't 36 possible outcomes, only 21...check your math, or maybe you just read the question wrong, or maybe i'm wrong (i've double checked now..don't see where i'm going wrong)
  10. Very true...I cannot believe I overlooked that...
  11. Correct my math if I'm wrong, I always screw up simple equations...especially ones with exponential probabilities: Having 36 rolls to land a double six with a pair of dice yields a greater chance of occuring as opposed to four rolls with one die to roll a six. The probability of a die rolling a six is 1/6. With four rolls, the probability becomes 4/6. The probability of a pair of dice rolling a double 6 is 1/21, since there are 21 possible combinations. With 36 chances the probability of rolling a double 6 becomes 36/21 or 12/7.
  12. I agree strongly with exogenesis as well. The chances of abiogenesis are astronomical especially in models such as primordial soup. The chance that natural chemical reactions can spontaneously create amino acids is more a figment of sci fi, than actual science, however they have adapted these models since these are the prevalent scientific theories on human genesis. http://www.accessexcellence.org/WN/SUA02/primordial_soup.html
  13. The reason partially is that so many theories exist that each theory has a different explanation. That's why I love advanced mathematics and sciences...it reaches a point where even a high school student could show a college professor wrong, and its rapid evolving nature that means that its possible to make discoveries right inside your own room.
  14. Could you refine your question, or show some mathematical evidence that in fact these dimensions exist in our space? Actually could you link me to the website you read this at, because either you've accidently missed something, or it's going to take A VERY VERY VERY LONG post to explain.
  15. @Jackonaut, psychoactive drugs have a different effect on everyone because everyone has a different state of mind, so it becomes almost impossible to determine what would really happen to you if you did take a psychedelic drug. Now in the event that you did take LSD, LSD's effects would not be harmful at all, in the sense that the chemical itself does not to any physical or mental damage to you, however, if you happened to gouge out your eye, as in the case calbiterol presented. One would assume that it was the fault of LSD (in essence that is true), although, the scientific explanation would point to the fact that it was not in fact the effect of LSD, but rather the result of the state of mind the user was in at point of application.
  16. lol The earth has sufffered five major mass extinctions and countless of cataclismic events, through anything, and everything, life has found a way. The outcome of such a complex system as the ecosystem is completely impossible to predict or calculate. With so many variables, descrepancies, and scientific anomalies, the predicting of the earth's position in 50 years has astronomical probabilities against a correct GUESS. It's like trying to hit a flea with a rock from 10 million miles away. What's funny is that even through everything the earth has been through, we, mankind is egocentric enough to deem itself "earth's greatest threat"
  17. LSD research on the mind is done in extremely controlled environments, so controlled that they can fluctuate temperatures by a single degree. This means that in a scenario where someone takes LSD in an uncontrolled environment, it is impossible to look at the results of scientific experiments and use it as a basis of guidance. if you're generally aquainted with CHAOS and its implications you'd understand what I am saying much more clearly. ANOTHER UNPROVEN WAY TO INDUCE HALLUCINATION: --for those of you aware of [a certain cookbook which I shall not name, because it teaches you how to make bombs out of everyday appliances] the author claimed that crushed, freeze-dried, frogskin could induce hallucinations. As far as I'm aware that would be legal non-drug-induced way. The author claimed that "3 joints" would send you "spinning". I'm not sure what kind of chemicals are in frog-skin that effect your body in such a way, try doing some research on the organic secretion of frog-skin. However it seems to me that you're looking for a process that does not include any organic or inorganic chemical substance intake. i honestly do not see a single solution towards your problem, but that just makes me want to look harder. over and out.
  18. That is a very, very intresting model that I can build upon. Thank you very much and could I have your name so If I do decide to build upon this, I could cite you as a source reffered. I'll let you know if I do decide to work on this, because I've also read Conceptual's MDT cube, and it sounds very intresting. And there is one more on the effects of time and the existence of singularites that I may want to work on. This one would be my work entirely. (chances are i'd be doing the last one) THANK YOU SO MUCH...i love this community
  19. man, thats a dangerous question to ask around here, i asked for some help about a theoretical physics paper, and some guy said i would never get ahead in life and etc...go read the forum its pretty sad its the one started by me called "Any Ideas?" and its in the theoretical physics section
  20. YES THERE IS A WAY! 1.oxygen deprivation, if i'm not incorrect that should trigger of chemical reactions in your brain that simulate the feeling of being doped out, since your body begins to shut down "unneccessary" reactions in order to keep more vital areas function...lol, but don't try it, the best way you could try it is stick yourself under a blanket and just lay there underneath for an hour or so...this will increase the levels of co2 inside your blanket and it will cause you to hyperventilate and it'll guarantee you hallucinations---bad side, you may pass out, suffocate, and die (MAN DIES OF SUFFOCATION FROM BLANKET: LAW SUIT FILED TOWARDS BLANKET MANUFACTURERS) 2. water deprivation, it is possible to dehydrate yourself and hallucinate: THE LISTED EFFECTS OCCUR AT DIFFERENT TIMES FOR EVERYONE lose 2% of your water, you'll start feeling thirsty, tired, etc. at 5 to 6% water loss, you'll feel like you're having a bad hangover: headaches, nausea, vomiting, sleepiness at 10%+ delerium begins (hallucinations) at 15%+ you die DO NOT TRY THIS UNLESS SUPERVISED 3. Drink plenty of salt water for a day, throw off the bodies normal percentage of salt intake and fall asleep at night time, when you dream, they'll become psychedelic and hallucination like involving the use of all your senses...this is dangerous as well, although not as dangerous...do some research on this method, i'm not entirely sure as to its longterm or more damaging effects. those three are the best non-drug induced methods to reach a psychoactive "high", I am in no way responsible for your stupidity or the outcomes of such processes. Do at your own risk.
  21. lol, beats me, maybe it was something you ate, its possible that your body is metabolizing certain foods, and maybe creating chemical imbalances in your brain that keep you from sleeping...lol, don't cite me as a source, this is almost 75% bullshit (in the sense that i honestly don't have a clue and i'm just guessing)
  22. There is a very fine line between begging and asking for help to develop a thesis. I find it highly insulting to be equated as a begger, but I realize that in essence that is what I am doing. For your information I am not a complete waste of oxygen, I have been published two times in a CLASS B medical journal Once for my research as an intern in eN-Terminus for the effects of microbial growth under Lactoferrin, and the second time for research on ROS limiting anti-oxidants and their applications. Technically I would be entitled to submit those same papers in for equal amount of credit, however, I wish to broaden my spectrum so I can later choose a focus. Thus, I decided to begin a new paper touching upon the subject of theoretical physics. I was just looking for pointers, maybe towards some books, as my knowledge is outdated because of the rapidly evolving nature of this subject. (I heard that Hawking denounced his old theories from the original A Brief History of Time, but I would have no idea since the last time I read any of his works was in 5th grade with the aid of my father.) Sorry for giving you the impression that I was beginning for answers, or technically cheating.
  23. Hello, I'm currently a High-school sophomore and I've come here because I've been so interested with the materials presented in these forums for so long, its just recently I've actually decided to become a member, however thats a different story. As matter of fact goes, I've got 1 month to provide evidence for something of "exceptional educational magnitude" in order to demonstrate my intellect and capacity to be deserving titlehood as an International Baccalaureate student. For those people that are not aware there are only 400 schools worldwide that offer this program and an extremely, EXTREMELY slim percentage graduate with the IB diploma. It is of extreme prestige and one of my greater dreams to pursue. As I have a specific amount of time for this project I am deciding to demonstrate my interest in the highly evolving field of theoretical physics, I have posted here to ask for help and guidance to what I should try and present, I have checked the rules, and I am allowed to recieve help from my intellectual superiors. So I rephrase the question, What should I focus on doing? What is within my ability and yet still be considered something of "exceptional educational magnitude"? Sincere Thanks for Considering me, --EverCurious xcombatxwombatx@aol.com
