  1. Just thinking... Consider Newton’s first law of motion. Consider Einstein’s set condition of empty space. Then ask why c would not be invariant? Wouldn’t there need to be a change in the set condition (empty space) if you want to expect variety?
  2. Apparently I got everything wrong. Apparently they just meant really, really close and my imagination did the rest. Sorry.
  3. I recently found this video and became in awe of the simplicity of the explanation.
  4. It’s possible the recent video I watched exaggerated the planets location. It was one of those live feeds, and now I can’t find the exact video, which annoys me and means I am less likely to ever watch a live feed video again. Note - apparently below the stratosphere doesn’t necessarily mean below the stratosphere, because now I can’t find any mention of such an exoplanet position existing except in terms such as we might use as in below the horizon. Or, the thought is so new that Google hasn’t heard of it, no matter how I phrase it. (Sighs)
  5. Generally, for good reason the black hole is thought of as the exit. Oft, imagined is the question, “to where”? I would reason that over a very long time a black hole losing sufficient mass, still having gravity could be attracted to a sun, but consumed? Stranges post is interesting. mistermack’s question is also a good one? ———————————————————————————— I believe that theoretically small black holes are said able to exist, but how would they interact if they didn’t cease first. A sun generally containing the majority of mass of any solar system would seem a natural target, but I have read that even two galaxies can merge without stars having to collide due to vast distances. How many planet size rocks are moving through the universe not ending up in suns? The universe gets bigger and bigger, things spread out more, and more the odds change. Planets do fall into suns, But it’s not a given. A recent video suggests that planets can actually exist inside a sun until harmonics of the system cause them to eject. I would imagine that a planet size black hole might do the same if the physical interaction didn’t expedite what strange posted? I have also read that very tiny black holes can exist to no effect. Which leads me to believe that an apparent possible effect such as a black hole exiting into a sun isn’t a given. Note - sometimes I stray to far into imagination
  6. Not confused, sure the photograph will age, but the image is a capture of time stopped (the reflection). I’m just noting examples of time doing what it is supposed to do at c without the rest of the universe being effected. You see I used to be confused because it was difficult to think of time stopping as an effect of relativity while the person who’s time is seen to be stopped by an observer goes about his or her business completely unaware that someone has used relativity to decided that they the (observed) are frozen in time. Relativity is a lot easier for simple minds like mine to accept if the universe is allowed to continue on in spite of relativity’s predictions. Actually, I am the one generally causing confusion. My mind moves around too much. Relativity, doesn’t cause effects. What it does is explain the reasoning for what might be seen as illogical because what we see is just a reflection, or a type of radiation that can be affected by gravity or extreme speeds. Both cases need to be extreme, and even though we imagine the observed as not being effected in both cases they would be torn asunder( a condition necessary for the imagined activity.) luckily photographs and mirrors are more about the past and don’t require an unpleasant present.
  7. md65536 😊———Thank you. Ah... this would be the best example of time stopping at c. The reflection is what it is. I’m reasoning that my reflection can not age. (Actually, you said it) I’m just reasoning with it... Your reflection travels at a speed of c and doesn't age. ( copied from your quote ) All it can do is show me a reasonable representation of the present/past dependent on conditions. In order for this to work. Time has to stop at c. It might get a little weird if my reflection were to continue to age past my time.😊
  8. Okay, like the kids in school I started making jokes because I am clueless, so switching back to reason I would guess red shifted, because I can’t think of a reason why a mirror moving away from me reflecting photons would act any differently than anything else. Guessing, the waves stretch out as the mirror moves away? Now I have to go look up Relativistic Doppler shift, since I am in the “say what?” range with that question as in didn’t know there was one. Okay I found a website but I am still puzzled. http://astronomyonline.org/Science/RelativisticRedshift.asp it seems to suggest that if I am sitting in a train at near c looking at my reflection in a mirror held in my hand the top equation or the non-relativistic equation would suffice. However if the mirror is moving away from me at near c then the bottom equation becomes necessary. Could be that I am completely misunderstanding what it is saying, so I’ll switch to a bigger device (easier to read) and read it again.
  9. Ah, so the mirror Has to travel away from me at speed. Here I was jokingly thinking that my image photons should be sufficient😊. perhaps this means that if someone has a mirror set up far enough away, I might see a reflection half my age? Though maybe somewhat grainy? About those test😒. I’m at the age where if I arrive at the checkout counter in the grocery store then realize I forgot something I just let it go for 2 reasons. 1. Hurry up, is no longer achievable, 2. I am liable to find myself wondering around the store trying to remember where I left my shopping cart...So, I don’t do well with test which is why I tend to approach them as puzzles no one expects an old man to even remember he is doing a puzzled, let alone correctly finish it🙂. But, I can spend hours reading and thinking about the questions, so I do look forward to the puzzle, and getting it wrong, then starting over again... over, and over... again, etc. 😴 Let me c. Hmm, the mirror can’t move at c, yet the photon can, so the photon has a slight advantage. 🤔 This might be where I have to stop reasoning and start using science... I might be in trouble already. Time to reflection...I mean time to reflect/research.
  10. Hmm, kinda looks like he could be my twin? Oh, my bad, not that kind of relative... sorry.
  11. So why doesn’t my image in the mirror look about half my age. I assume it’s moving fairly fast?🤔🙂
  12. Accepted, back in the day once offered then accepted there was no longer any need For justice. It was over.
  13. Hmm, I finally figured out what question you had asked. I had to read it a few times before I spotted it. By the next day I would have calmed down, told him to forget it, then asked him to keep an eye on the store to make sure no one else did it. Quid pro quo does work when both parties are willing... At least it worked for me With a Biker group at a Scotsman store out side of Myrtle Beach years ago no broken windows evolved though.
  14. The topic is justice if you want justice get the moderators involved
  15. So read the article an learn. And now you are going to say that the negative point didn’t come from you😂😂😂 what ever, it is your swing... have a great day.
  16. 🤔🤣😂🤣 I lived around this long enough to know it when I see it 🙂 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcissistic_personality_disorder?wprov=sfti1
  17. Is this is an actual question I don’t understand it. I mean it’s got the question marks? But? Truth is I spent most of my life trying to figure out what people wanted because they presented that I should be able to figure it out in my own when it would have been so simple to just be clear, but if the topic of the thread is the question still? My opinion is that if the Jewish belief and it’s several branches is true justice has been decided and you are looking for the answer in the wrong place. With out regard to what I believe I can’t argue the wisdom of it. Good or bad death brings justice with its embrace. The bad loose what they want the most; their life. The good gain what they will never have without it. The one thing I never have understood about Buddhism Is why in the he’ll any true Buddhist would want to be reborn? Is heaven worth the hell. Tolerate hell the best you can then accept that justice when it is given us is meant to give you what you deserve, or accept that it is all a lie and continue on with the struggle I’ll continue on with the struggle because it is not up to an idiot with a gun to play at God. We are born we live we die. It doesn’t work any other way. Nature has decided what justice is, we can only have our opinions. I imagine some will consider mine morbid... I suppose I could lie... but then eventually justice will be served. Note to whom it may concern this is a Philosophical answer not a religious one. I’m guessing that this is the type or answer dimreeper is asking for, since it is The general philosophy section. Who knows maybe I guessed it right?🤔
  18. Okay, maybe you should highlight exactly where you asked me anything. In my opinion the system is a money maker set up to make money off the relatives they are not even in jail and the phone is ringing come bail me out he’s still strung out when they let them out he want money for his bills mom gives it to him. He stays strung out. The phone rings he needs money or he goes back to jail she gives it to him. He goes to jail anyway. Hell one time his buddy bailed him out. Why cause he can’t beg money for the rent and bills cause he’s in jail moms at least smart enough to know that. The last time he went to jail he convinced her she didn’t need her car as much as he needed money. I put a stop to that. His life as a kid was good compared to mine. He’s a damn addict and they won’t leave him in jail long enough for him to decide he would rather work for a living. First thing he does is get high and beg from family. Everyone blocks his calls cause he calls every day. He is out in jail less than a month. He gets caught stealing packages off of porches. He is back on the street before the sun goes down. Mom lives from retirement check to retirement check because of him the state don’t want to help him they just want to drain the family dry. He emptied out her savings. The last year I worked before I retired he made more money sitting home begging and getting high than I did working. He doesn’t need to be kissed on the cheek and forgiven he needs to spend enough time in jail to grow up. The Namby-pamby’s of the world that allow the state to bleed family’s dry. Pop was beat as a kid. That was the excuse I heard For his ways. I wasn’t going to be that way because I hated that excuse. I wouldn’t beat any kid. Don’t make assumptions. My nephew is family. He is also almost 40, and if he ever gets any real jail time I’ll breath a sigh of relief. At the rate he is going if he makes it to 65 he won’t even have ten years of work in. Then the state can take care of him off of the money mom has already paid to the system for his bail and fines. Oh then there is the 3 cars she bought him then he sold for drugs. I learned something from my nephew. The system exists to make money for the state and the bail bonds companies and the stupid idiots that run around playing bounty hunter and parole officer. The system produces full grown men who think they are sick and deserve sympathy. Give them one chance then put their ass in jail and leave them there. Thats what I would do...
  19. 🙂 sounds more like a thirties movie than something that could have happened in the last 50 years. I saw head bowed hat in hand on tv but never in real life. My dad would have beat the hell out if me then told me to keep my mouth shut for fear he would have to pay for the window. But nothing like that ever happened accept for the beating part so I can’t say for sure. Generally he just had to think I did something wrong, so I avoided trouble, and him.
  20. Agreed and as humans we don’t exactly sense fairness fairly since when offended we tend to only feel that justice has been served if the offenders punishment exceeds the level that we were offended. When we express that the punishment needs to teach a lesson we are hardly going to feel a sense of justice if the outcome is merely that our sensibilities have been placated and nothing more. We may have a sense of fairness, but we are more likely to act like animals at the onset. It happens. Sometimes it continues seemingly unendingly. Not necessarily limited to individuals.
  21. I don’t remember anyone ever pointing this out for why light years doesn’t work for distance. So thank you. It’s really rather simple when someone just out and out says it🙂. Thank you... Actually I did misunderstand the video what he said was that relativity creates the paradox by having both brother see each other as leaving at near c. One ages faster than the other. I’m submitting that since it is an analogy that as both brothers are seen as leaving at near c, lets say 99.9% a more reasonable percent of c thenThen both brothers should be considered from both views. Write the dilation equation down twice enter the speed for brother 1 in one equation enter brother 2s speed in the other equation it should show that time effects each at the same rate. If relativity creates the paradox then using relativity fairly in the thought problem should eliminate the paradox. It’s relativity that says both brothers see each other moving away at near c. There is no paradox.
  22. Your question brought this video and this equation to mind. I may be jumping the gun presenting it before reading the whole thread? The first time I saw the equation my mind went, (What? Zero?), but then the video made sense of it. Maybe, you will see the same relation to your question that I did... of course, maybe I’m wrong? Maybe your logic is like. I have one orange. Someone gives me another so, now I can no longer have one orange. The video still might help?
  23. In order to lighten the mood implied by the question of how science works. I would say, try taking a crowbar to it, but I gather from the threads content that science isn’t always about Mechanics.
  24. I sometimes feel that I should have moved to Canada in the 70’s. I looked up Finland it seems ideal, but my question is why is it that preferred places are always so cold? Maybe the weather for Finland is Finland’s (the land, not the government’s) way of dispensing it’s own form of justice?
