  1. <sarcasm> I must admit that although Im not proud of it, I like this explanation. It implies that people who are not susceptible to pink unicorns are more evolved than the ones who are.</sarcasm>
  2. I think that your belief that empath's exist renders you insane. Can you provide any peer reviewed scientific studies disproving that you are insane?
  3. Here's a working link to that Wow above: https://youtu.be/kJl2uPNsJEk?t=198 Here's another Wow while at it watch from 3:52
  4. Dang it Strange, I was really hoping to see some break-through stuff in this thread.
  5. Quickly, before this thread gets locked - tell us how it works !
  6. While translating that Bohr quote I found some other really good ones by him...this one is a gem: "No, no, you're not thinking; you're just being logical"
  7. Yeah, its me to every detail. Here's my favourite standup dealing with religion:
  8. I have to admit that I have no idea what you are talking about imaatfal I mean the example you posted is very clear to me but I fail to see where to find a correlation between the unknown card setups in your example and quantum entaglement/superposition states. I'm pretty sure that quantum mechanical type superpositions & entaglements have no relfection in poker ?

TakenItSeriously, on 23 Mar 2017 - 3:43 PM, said: The relavent correlation under discussion is that each observation seems to have an instantanious effect on all entangled objects There is no entanglement in poker. TakenItSeriously, on 23 Mar 2017 - 3:43 PM, said: for example some details are that superposition states are discrete states of existance the same as hand combinations are descrete combinations . There are no superposition states in poker.
  10. I agree. Could you explain to me than what is the correlation of poker to QM ? I feel uncomfortable with discarding the most important aspect of a no limit holdem game (which your example suggests that is the game) which is player stack size but I get it, for the sake of your example lets assume what you assume. The most comfortable game I feel in is no limit holdem. I also like to play pot limit omaha when I feel like in need of more adrenaline.
  11. Well...I'll give you a real life example of why I think there is little correlation between poker and QM appart from the fact that both systems deal with probability; I can pretty firmly grasp the aspects of probability in the game of poker but the issues discussed in the arxiv link I edited in above are beyond me.
  12. Im not sure if its as simple as you state. Wave functions, probability amplitude, discrete amplitudes, laws for calculating densities of probability are far more complex than just a simple up/down spin of a particle. Nevertheless, I still fail to see any other correlation between QM and poker than a simple "they both involve probability" statement. Edit: Link added: https://arxiv.org/pdf/hep-th/9307019.pdf
  13. Youre not taking stack sizes into account which in no limit holdem has a huge (probably the biggest) impact on player range polarization. I fail to see any correlation other than what Swansont mentioned.
  14. I'm no expert on QM but Im sure that the level of probability complexity in QM is far beyond the pretty straight forward probabilities in poker.
  15. I don't think this is accurate Phi. I know many people who are not educated and come from no scientific background and have very good critical thinking skills. On the other hand I know PHD's who are the opposite. Im sure there is merrit to what you propose but surely its not a pinpoint (if there is any)
  16. This should be helpful: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_Million_Dollar_Paranormal_Challenge
  17. There is no scientific evidence for any extra special powers so you wont find any peer reviewed arricles on empaths. Look up pheromones.
  18. Wow, just wow. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZF4Xy6gg7rA
  19. The severe differences in extrapolating in situations where pieces are missing is what I'm trying to understand. Come to think of it (I wonder if this makes sense to anyone besides me) I just realized that within my friends there seems to be a correlation between how people are susceptible to maniac-like extrapolations of reality which is missing pieces and poker playing skills which is an ideal example of a system which is missing crucial pieces of information. What I just realized is that the people who I know who are susceptible to conspiracy theories and do a poor job on connecting the dots are also terrible poker players or they don't play at all because they don't like the game. It might be some sort of a cognitive bias like you propose or maybe a complex set of features of the mind and not a tangible "thing"
  20. The one I use is old and brandless and it works great. I have things taped with it for 5+ years and they still hold. Im sure 3M would be even better.
  21. Not clear on all details of 9/11 - Bush did it. We don't know how exactly the universe begun nor we don't know its complexity in full detail therefore - God. And so on... Is there a psychological mechanism or a set of psychological mechanisms which can be pinpointed and/or named to describe this "phenomena" ? (Besides being a moron)
