Can any1 help me with this? In a coffee-cup calorimeter, 50ml of 0.1M AgNO3 and 50ml of 0.1M HCl are mixed to yield the following reaction: Ag+(aq) + Cl-(aq) --> AgCl(s) The 2 solutions were initially at 22.6 degrees C and the final temperature is 23.4 degrees C. Calculate the heat that accompanies this reaction in kJ/mol of AgCl formed. Assume that the combined solution has a mass of 100g and a specific heat capacity of 4.18 J/degrees C g. I used q = ms(detaT) = 100 x 4.18 x 0.8 = 334.4J. I then thought since there are 0.01 mols altogether, then that means for 0.01 moles it's 334.4J, so 1 mole is 33440J. but that's the wrong answer. I think it's the mo…

any1 got any ideas for these 2 questions? 1. Identify the Lewis acid in the following reaction. Ag+(aq) + 2NH3(aq) --> Ag(NH3)2 2+(aq) 2. What is the concentration of hydroxide ions in a 0.035M solution of Ba(OH)2? (For Q1, I think Ag+ would be a lewis acid but what about the Ag(NH3)2 2+?) (For Q2, I think it's just 0.035 x 2 but...I'm not sure if that's right coz its sort of a guess...) thanx

Yer i got this off the teacher on what the test is on ... can anyone help me finish it? Introduction: The speed of reaction is called the reaction rate. The speed of reaction (reaction rate) between magnesium and hydrochloric acid can depend on several factors, some of which include: *The Size of the magnesium pieces *The concentration of acid and *The Temperature of the Acid In your prac. test, you will be designing an experiment to investigate the effect one of these factores on theh reaction rate between hydrochloric acid and magnesium. The Task: Your task will be to design and carry out an experiment for a given factor(one of the above) which…

The tetrahedron BCDH is cut off from the cube and is then placed on top of the solid ABDEFGH as shown in the figure. The face BCD of the tetrahedron coincides with the face BAD of the solid ABDEFGH such that vertex H of the tetrahedron moves to the position of V and vertex C coincides with A. The faces BHD and BVD of the new solid lie on the same plane. What's the projection of point F on the plane BDH?

hey there can anyone help me with this math problem concerning vectors: Given a triangle ABC. Let D and E be the points defined by BD= 2/3 BC and AE=1/2 AC. The lines (BE) and (AD) intersect at M, and the line thorugh E parallel to (BC) intersects (AD) in F. a) Prove that MD + 4MF = 0 and MB + 4ME = 0. Deduce that 2MA + 3MD=0 b) Show that 5MC = 2CA + CB c) Define L by CL + 2 CA = 0 and I by LI = BC. Prove that C, M, and I are collinear. thx

can any1 give me some help on this question: What pressure would have to be applied to steam at 300 degrees C to condense it into liquid water (delta H(vap) = 40.7 kJ/mol)? Ans. 97.6 atm I really have no idea wat to do, i can't even start it!! i don't even know which formulae would be used...any1 got any ideas?

Two cars on Crete left the towns of Knossos and Phaistos at the same time to drive to the other town, passing each other at Gortyns and both travelling at different constant speeds. The car from Knossos travels 20 km/h faster than the car from Phaistos. The distance from Knossos to Gortyns is 10 km more than the distance from Phaistos to Gortyns. The car from Phaistos completed the journey from Gortyns to Knossos in 35 minutes. Find the distance from Knossos to Phaistos.

can any1 help me with this? "Which of the following will have the lowest total vapour pressure at 25 degrees C? a) pure water (vapour pressure = 23.8 torr at 25 degrees C) b) a solution of glucose in water with X(C6H12O6) = 0.01) c) a solution of sodium chloride in water with X(NaCl) = 0.01) d) a solution of methanol in water with X(CH3OH) = 0.2 (Consider the vapour pressure of both methanol [143 torr at 25 degrees C] and water)" I'm not sure whether it would be right if, say for b), I go P(total) = 0.99 x 23.8 = 23.562 (coz P of water would be 1 - 0.01 = 23.8)...i don't know becuase if that's right, then I will get the same answer for both b) and c)...but the…

25ml 0.2 NaOH solution is added to 50ml of 0.1M acetic acid solution. What is the pH of the solution (Ka for acetic acid = 1.75e-5). i got an answer of pH = 9.378. does any1 agree? (my working out is so long that I thought if quite a few ppl agree with my ans. then i must be using the correct method...otherwise, if any of u guys reckon i've got the wrong ans, plz tell me so that i can figure out if my method is wrong) thanx

I am 50 years old and taking my very first science course ever. I love it, but my brain is going to explode. It's a university course for non-science students but they assume some minimal background knowledge that I don't have. So please excuse the simplistic questions I will ask. I am studying for an exam and won't have access to the teacher beforehand. I probably don't really have to know this, but I really want to understand. Just the basics please because I don't even have high-school algerbra. I passed with a 60% 35 years ago. I don't have an official textbook. In the notes I was given, in referring to the formation of stars, it states that a cer…

Hey guys, I've just started on Power in physics and its all really cool. We did this prac where we walked up some stairs and calculated our power. One of the questions is: Your local electric company supplies you 1kW of power for 1 hour for 8c. Assume that you could climb stairs continuously for 1 hour. How much money would this climb be worth? well, the climb took me 4.22seconds and the power used for that was 332W. How would I go about solving this? My maths is horrible, but luckily for me this year doesn't count towards my exit statement. So I'm working really hard to catch up Any help at all would be great, I am trying to convert it all n s…

hey guys, i was wondering who is good at science? The reason i am asking is because i got some 6 six questions from TAFE, and i don't have a clue how to do them? So here they are: 1. Use the equation of motion to calculate the speed and distance travelled by an object falling from rest under gravity after 3,6 and 9 seconds. Take g=10 meters per seconds squared. 2. A force of 20 N acts for 8 seconds on a mass of 60Kg. What is the (a) acceleration, (b) final speed, © average speed, (d) distance covered during the 8 seconds. 3. A force of 20 N is exerted on the handle of a door 0.6 meters from the hinge. If the force acts a right angles to the door, what is the m…

67877 L of concentrated nitric acid (74% by mass, density 1.46 g/cm3) was split on a road. Sodium carbonate was spread on the acid to react as in the equation: (CO3)2(aq) + 2H ------> CO2(g) + H2O. How many grams of sodium carbonate are needed? If you answer is in the form 5.00 x 102 write in 5.00e2

hi, ive been asked to plan an investigation to find out if there is a relationship between the concentration of phosphate ions in nutrient solutions and the number of cells dividing by mitosis in root tips (i'm assuming on using hydroponics obviously) but im really stuck! can any of you lovely people help me out, either with the scientific knowledge or actual investigation? Thanks, Angel (that is my real name please dont laugh at it!)
