Hiyya, Please could someone give me a helping hand... Im working on an assignment linking the effects of zinc deficiency on nutritional status and pneumonia... I understand that zinc deficiency affects: Th1 cytokine production, B lymphocyte help, antibody production, and causes an imbalance in th1 and th2.... Is anyone able to help me with the reason why there's a link to pneumonia?... like, what is it that zinc deficiency does that leaves us susceptible to pneumonia?? anyhelp would be most appreciated.. I had a few questions regarding the properties of UV light. 1. Why is it easier for long wave UV radiation to penetrate the earth's atmosphere than shortlength waves? 2. What makes sunglasses that protect from long wave UV light different from the sunglasses that protect from short wave UV light? 3. Also, with things like safety glasses and car glass, do they absorb or reflect the UV light that they don't allow through? Thanks for the help in advance!

We've done an experiment on the rate of reactions using catalysts, we now have to do a right up of it and I'm stuck on explaining how the catalysts worked in the experiment i know that the help break chemical bonds in reactant molecules and provide a 'different pathway' for the reaction, but how do they do it. The experiment was using 10cm3 potassium iodide solution, 10cm3 sodium thiosulfate solution, 5cm3 starch solution add the catalysts and then add 20cm3 of potassium peroxodisulfate solution I've been told by my teacher that it is something to do with the shape of the molecule and the catalysts, but i cant remember exactly what she said, or that i understood it.

Hello everybody, I had a question in regards to ANOVAs and multiple comparisons corrections (Bonferroni mostly). I am running a 3 way repeated measures anova (2 within-subjects factors - one factor with two levels, another factor with most likely more than 3 levels + 1 between subject factor). Lets name this ANOVA #1 I am running this with EEG spectral power as the dependent variable. Now if I divided the power into the traditional power bands (delta, theta, alpha, beta and gamma), then I will have 5 ANOVA's (one for each band). First, thanks for checking out my topic! The last time I had to deal with pH problems was in Biochemistry last year, so this is probably a simple question that I'm over analyzing because I haven't done this type of problem in a while. The question asks: Calculate the pH of 0.1 M solution of glycine hydrochloride. I know that HCl is a strong acid and so it should have completely dissociated in the solution, and I know the two pKa values for glycine are 2.34 and 9.6 (should I be using the pI or should I use the more acidic group's pKa?). Hello there, and hi from me! I've just joined to find out about this particular issue but hope to also be an active participant in this forum! I've been measuring current in a circuit with an improvised ammeter. This consists of a known good Digital Volt meter connected across a 10 Ohm 7 watt resistor. This (shunt) resistor is then placed in series with the circuit (IE circuit is broken until resistor is connected) Two questions really; 1) Is that the correct physical layout for this type of test? 2) Is my maths right.......
