Greetz, I need to draw spheres, with a decent 3D representation - the figures will be used to explain my argument. I'm going to need to illustrate the sphere: expanding, and contracting show radius of the sphere at various stages of the expansion/contraction show slices/shell sections at various time intervals Then I'm going to need to superimpose one sphere inside the other and illustrate: interrelationships between the spheres I saw this diagram in one of the posts here in the forum: That's pretty much along the lines of how I'd like my figures to look. A simple line diagram, with a clear 3 dimensional visual element. Can anyone suggest …

  3. I heard that in today's society, Chinese (Mandarin) by far is the most frequently spoken language in the world. But I'm wondering whether it will stay like this for long because I've heard a few years ago that over there they now have somesort of one child policy rule. I am wondering whether anybody knows whether this is being properly regulated (i.e. the one child per family rule)? If it is, will this significantly reduce Chinese Mandarin influence globally? And what do you think will be the dominant language in the near future? I think Arabic and Spanish are good contenders. What do you think?

Hi, i've been playing singularity on ps3 and can't get past the scene/scenario where you have to go through the ventilation system which starts above the small bridge with the 2 boxes under it. Then after following the root, you come to the storage facility type place, where you walk into the smaller control room and have a witch in front of you, and when you push the switch the garage door opens up (in front of you, for which you can see through the glass wall, which is in front of you).. does anyone have any suggestions or know how to get past this particular bit... i do apologise if its hard to follow. i couldn't insert any pictures. thanks.

Is this just the beginning of the next generation of earth? Opinions, thoughts, concerns please post. Thanks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vyVe-6YdUk link is the entire public disclosure quite long 1hr 55min

The good The acceleration on the runway, followed by the G-force at actual take-off is awesome. The view from the window on a clear day is fantastic. The feeling of speed, when you can spot another airplane going in another direction, is mind-boggling. You can reach most of the world within 24 hrs because of airplanes. That must make it a good invention? The bad You sit with 100-400 people crammed into a tiny space. At least 3 people invade your little bubble of privacy for the duration of the flight. No matter how clean you are, you stink if you get out of the airplane. The food sucks. The chairs are too tiny. Waiting at the airport makes it all much slower than ne…

My mind has this tendency to watch evolving markets and to peer into what the future may hold or require of us. I often see one of two scenarios both leading to the same or similar solutions. The first being the contraction of society into megacities to allow for larger free ranges, parks and conservations. The other is the pure exhaustion of land in general. Both consequently limit the amount of available land for farming. I often try to architect in my mind city towers. These city towers do not dedicate themselves to office or business infrastructures but instead focus on food production. I often think about this as rising food costs are narrowing the choice a…

So its pretty simple. All I know is English, and lately I've read in several different studies when it comes to the brain knowing a different language is very useful in a lot of different ways. Any suggestion of what I should try to learn. I have an interest in Italian as I'm 1/3 Italian. But also I think Chinese would be nice, I just don't know how difficult it would be to learn. Any suggestions? And what all languages do you know & how was your experience learning them?

  16. The situation is quite complex. Im more focused on the aspect of a mandatory smoking ban in all businesses, even if the business owner and/or property owner is against said measures. If a property/business owner wants to allow smoking, isn't it their choice to do so? If they want to ban it, isn't it their choice to do so? Wouldn't a smoking ban be somewhat totalitarian legislation in that smoking is a legal act/product? I believe that the person who owns the estabilishment should decide whether or not they want to allow this on their premises. If the government chooses a ban for their buildings, so be it. I also think, for health purposes, that smoking s…

TC Yasi is now a Cat 5 and will cross the coast sometime tonight. http://www.goes.noaa.gov/sohemi/sohemiloops/shirgmscol.html As much as possible we have evacuated the effected cities. There are already reports that outlying weather stations have ceased responding. The following alert was issued today; To give an idea of the size of this thing, the area where the most destructive winds are expected to hit, from Cairns to Ingham, is a distance of about 200 km. Innesfail which was smashed by Larry in 2006 is right in the firing line again. (And we haven't finished fixing it up from Larry yet. ) Down here in Brisbane, we got wet but up north is go…

Was doing some reading on telekinesis and other phenomena, I dont even know what to believe myself. The claims seem very bold and unexplainable to a degree. But their are some really great magician's out there who can fool the best eyes. Is this a real act? Or just simply a parlor trick old as the earth itself. Opinions thoughts skeptics welcome. I would love some hard evidence proving this!

i have heard people complain about the medium that an idea is presented (mostly about videos). what is the best way to present your ideas in a way that the reader/viewer/listener to asses the validity of your argument in the most objective way possible (if your main goal is not to get people to believe what you are saying but to present a valid argument)

Hi all. Most of us retain in our memory about 1000 songs since childhood, where their exact notes, durations, sequences, instruments, lyrics, tempo, voice, tones, cadence, pitch, chords, echoes, performer, and even more details pertaining particularities of each tune. To the point that any tiny deviation in one single detail as a note, instrument change, microphone positioning as in a live or different recording is immediately noticeable. Even we can anticipate passages coming next. How can the brain keep so much fine detail saved ? Any theories about it ? And what would be the Terabytes equivalent of such recognizable detail in a single tune multiplied by the …
