Hi all, I only registered today so be patient with me, I have not quite gotten a feel for the dynamic of the forum yet. Basically, I am a first year CS student currently using Java. I have been looking at Haskell and Functional Programming. What benefits would be reaped from learning Haskell and another paradigm (currently only use OOP) early on? Regards, Jack

So I'm working on projects with programmers, but I'm not the programmer. I can make GIFs using photoshop to take some time off the hands of the programmer, but GIF's take up a lot of space, so the question is: Should I make GIF's since they can't get any smaller, or can the programmer make the game use less processing for animation if I just hand the separate frame images to them?

I just can't get my head around this. Considering a system using stop-and-wait ARQ, does the PER include the packets that has to be resent? I mean, isn't the PER value the probability of a packet containing an error? If so, every time a packet is received, there's a PER chance it's erroneous. If the packet is indeed erroneous a second time, it has to be resent, and that resent packet also has a probability of PER that it arrives with an error, and if that one also contains an error, it has o be resent, and so on... This would imply that there's a difference of a total PER and the PER given by the BER value. Or isn't the PER value really the probability of one packet conta…

Hello, First post here. Question is in regards to Big-O. I'm wondering if a method calls another method which is O(n), does this method become O(n) as well. If not, why not? It seems that it should be. Here's an example (and my professor marked this as O(1), but it calls an O(n)) public void push (T element) { if (size() == stack.length) expandCapacity(); stack[top] = element; top++; } private void expandCapacity() { T[] larger = (T[])(new Object[stack.length*2]); for (int index=0; index < stack.length; index++) larger[index] = stack[index]; stack = larger; } So why is the push function not O(n)?

This website tried downloading a virus so i decided to ping it and shut off the server using CMD. I used "ping (website)" to get the statistics and ip address and the i used the "ping (ip address) -t -l 1000" command and the packets went over to the server and i left it for a few hours and the website didn't even lag. And I don't think its the website itself because I've tried it on a few different websites but nothing big like google or youtube. So whats going wrong?? Thankyou

A facility that is more than wonderful, is the memory cards facility available for most of microcontrollers. You can use it as a mini portable Programming Application .. But, be a c-programmer, or an assembler. Micro controller with basic-programming are very rare. Memory cards make microcontrollers liable to manage large programs. Bear this in mind, you will use no doubt.

We human beings are always trying to find a everything operation of the law. So, I also don't strange myself sometimes why this. The truth controls the world, and above the truth ,there are also have all kinds of theorem, natural, truth and so on, and most outside by common sense again. It is clear that the world's kernel is truth. This a little like programming, just as Linux System, kernel is like the truth, and there are attached some explained above the truth which just like Shell. However, the world also need some physical chemical theory knowledge to manipulate the world just like the drive, is this the drive of our universe? So,what about our Living Beings? …

Hi: A wireless router is connected to a cable modem. The wireless adapter is external and connects to the computer via USB. The adapter and router have their own own power supplies for maximum amplifications upon reception and demodulation. There is a single radio frequency used by the router and adapter to communicate with each other -- 2 GHz. The modulation is AM. Both the carrier and modulation signals are completely linear. The carrier is always analog and amplitude-modulated. The modulation signal is initially digital but is converted to analog -- via a DAC -- prior to being transmitted on the carrier. Prior to entering the DAC, the digital modulation signal has …

Hi, I was wondering if there is any data on different "typical" bit-error rates for different broadband technologies (esp. adsl, adsl2+, vdsl2, caple tv (docsis 3.0) and 3g (cdma2000)). I've been searching the internet for quite some time now without any luck. If anybody could help me out here it would be very appreciated!

In many cases, you will see yourself in your accidentally deleted important files and documents in the case reached. Situation, can the real panic for you, if you do not have any knowledge of data recovery software. If you just delete the file, then the files in the trash, you can restore from there. However, if you have to use the Shift key and the Del key to delete the file, then you will not be able to recover these files, you may have to run the scanning process used in data recovery software. This leads to hard disk data recovery process. To perform this procedure, you must download data recovery software on the Internet, or you can buy from Unistal.com. Best…

NSF to PST format, but the content of email and attachments keeping exactly the same, not even the slightest changes. You need to plan accordingly to achieve the goal of success. A good plan is the need of a good implementation of the key. Also from Lotus Notes, MS Exchange Server e-mail migration case. It has been noted that one from the Lotus Notes email client paradigm shi…

Your hard drive is part of the system, all files are saved. If you do not have a backup of your source files, then your hard drive to save all the data is the only place. Therefore, it is very important that you take good care of storage devices. However, the problem is that these storage devices, even if you take the best care of them, they may still be damaged. For the hard drive to work, it is very important, they do not have any scratches on the surface. Now, let us see how the hard drive work? Hard drive, on the surface of glass or aluminum coating. In this layer magnetic coating. It is the magnetic coating that stores all the data, if scratches appear on the m…

Don't know what I want to do with my life so I tried computer science because that can lead to learning pretty much anything(history, philosophy, chemistry, biology, art, English, neuroscience, music, anything under the sun, etc.) except I totally suck at learning it. And sometimes I really , really don't like it but I keep thinking if continue to stick with it, it will pay off. I have passed five computer science classes(including two programming classes(but I failed at both of them at first try)). And I don't know if I should continue trying toward a computer science degree or completely change it and go towards something I truly love(even though I don't exac…
