Help with Mild Steel

Recommended Posts

well steel is just iron with no oxygen so it is much tougher' date=' it would never burn, but yeh, it molts a bit easier than iron so it would be stickier.

NOTE: are you talking about FC, or tool steel?[/quote']

Steel wool burns very well. And I think youre confusing iron ore, iron, and steel.

Steel is an alloy of iron and carbon, with other random impurities in it based upon what 'type' of steel it is.

My grandson is in the boyscouts. One of the things he had to do was start a fire without a match. I thought he would rub two sticks together or use a magnifying glass - nope, he did it with a 9 volt battery and steel wool.
