how is it possible that in mitosis , after s- phase , the amount of DNA gets double but chromosome number remains the same ?

Chromosome-number is the amount of DIFFERENT chromosomes.

If I write a poem and then make a photocopy of it, there are now twice as many pages, but still only one poem,

if there is a difference then please let me know because i was thinking of it as same

Chromosomes consist of two sister chromatids that get separated to the respective cells. Then, the chromatids duplicate in the S phase again.
