can regular melanocytes cause cancer?

Featured Replies

Di normal melanocytes cause cancer or they have to be mutated ones? Say if you inject a normal melanocytes into the bloodstream, would they cause cancer, be destroyed by the immune system or simply float for some time and die?

Why should melanocytes cause cancer in the first place? To be precise cancer (as disease) is due to malignant growth, and something has to cause that (such as mutations, as mentioned).

If you inject your own cells you would not expect an immune response.

Even if it's a skin cell travelling in bloodstream?
