Basic experiments using E.coli for a the Bioprocess engineering lecture

Featured Replies

I need to set-up an experiment using E.coli which I can follow for couple of weeks. The lecture is bioprocess engineering. We have very limited equipments in the lab so the growth must be either in flasks or petri dishes. Any suggestion for such an experiment ? What kind of parameters can be followed and what kinds of optimizations can be made?

A wise man once pointed out to me that you should never use e coli in an experiment where you could use brewing yeast.

Yeast colonies smell better.

Also, they are not pathogens.

Ok thanks :) So can you suggest me a simple set up for this experiment and how can I continue this process for weeks?
