I need to set-up an experiment using E.coli which I can follow for couple of weeks. The lecture is bioprocess engineering. We have very limited equipments in the lab so the growth must be either in flasks or petri dishes. Any suggestion for such an experiment ? What kind of parameters can be followed and what kinds of optimizations can be made?

Ok thanks So can you suggest me a simple set up for this experiment and how can I continue this process for weeks?

How about getting a home brewing kit?

A few home-brew kits at different temperatures.

Good idea, or different yeast varieties with various optimum temps.

Or a few different sugar concentrations or pH levels.

And do not forget the subsequent taste analysis!
