Normal mode angular frequency of springs

Featured Replies

Hello,

Can somebody help me...

A mass m is attached vertically to 2 springs, one spring at the ceiling K1 and the other one on the floor K2.

What is the normal mode angular frequency for vertical motion?

I found sqrt(5*k/m) but it don't seem good...

Thanks.

Do you know the position-space equations of motion for the mass? Do you know how to find them? What are your thoughts from here?

What's k? You have K1 and K2 in the original question? Do we include the effect of gravity?

This is clearly not the phrasing of the original question.

Nor is your rephrasing a valid description of your attempts so far.

@JonathanApps, K1 & K2 are the spring constants for the two springs involved.
