I just joined as a biology and chemistry teacher for the 10th Grade students in an international school only to discover that they very little about their subject and have the exams on their heads. I have tried to cover a lot of the syllabus but they need lab practicals. I don't have the resources or the time to arrange all the lab practicals for them right now...so i am trying to find lab simulation software that I can use to help them practice the basic lab practicals. Does anyone know any good software that I can use to cover simple lab techniques like 'tests for food groups', 'test for gases', 'test for cations' etc.

 

It would be awesome if the software is freely available or if I can get a torrent file. I plan to get the school to buy these lab software for the next academic session onward so that the students can practice the lab techniques themselves as well.

Have you considered using some of the videos on youtube and such?

Youtube is very effective source. As a student, I can say that the videos of reactions being performed can help remember which coloure occured on adding what. Also, sometimes the the guy in video has better eqiptment and execution.

I'm not sure if it's entirely what you're after, but try some of the software from Crocodile Clips; particularly Crocodile Chemistry. Google it and you'll probably be able to find some torrents.
