But how do you do it - sorry to be stupid.

Ummm.. use the image tag to put an image in posts, or upload one through User CP > Options > Change Avatar to use it as an avatar.

Er..... I'm not sure how to get the banana. I know you click on the smilies to insert but I see no bananas (or should that be "yes I have no bananas"?). Blame my advanced years.

Just right-click on the banana in my post (not under my username) and go to 'properties', then copy the address of the image.

 

Then you can use the [img ] tag to insert it into posts or paste the address into the avatar box.

Thankee Sayonara - what's an avatar box? You must try to remember that they were still using slates when I went to school!

If you go here and scroll down to the bottom, there's a button marked "change avatar":

If you click that it takes you to the avatar page, and there is a box near the bottom of that page that you can paste the image address into.
