Featured Replies

l, I am doing a DNA model and I need help.

I kknthat the bases A and T go together and G and C go to get her

I have the sequence

TA

GC

AT

GC

AT

CG

CG

TA

GC

AT

AT

GC

AT

what goes next and how do u know what goes next?

Thanks

Sorry for the typos and bad grammar, I was in a rush!! X

The base sequence consists of groups of three bases. Each group is a "codon" which specifies a particular amino acid to be used in the protein specified by the gene. So your sequence should be a sequence of these triplets.

If you want to model a specific gene, then you will have to find the sequence for that gene. I don't know where you would find that.

The general notation for DNA is usually the 5' to 3' (e.g. TGAGACCTGAAGA). The complementary strand is usually not indicated as the pairing rules make it obvious what it would be.

There is no way to know what goes next based on a short string unless you know where it originated from, as said above.

What protein are you trying to make? You would find what comes next in the sequence based on that if you can find the corresponding RNA code.
