Silver Nanoparticles

Featured Replies

According to my knowledge Silver Nano Particles are derived from silver oxides. these particles are silver in color. anybody knows the use of Silver Nano Particles ? please share your knowledge.

Very finely divided metals are usually black.

According to this

http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0009250912003168

a solution of nanoparticulate silver would be yellowish.

So called colloidal silver has been used for centuries as a disinfectant. The particle size for colloidal silver makes it nanoparticulate.

Catalysis of several organic chemical reactions and the calibration, with respect to particle size, of various light scatteting spectrometers such as DLS (dynamic light scatteting), Mie scatteting, and Zeta tracking come to mind.

Also, I've heard of glassy carbon electrodes being doped with silver nanoparticles though whether or not they would still be considered nanoparticles once incorporated into an amorphous carbon lattice is up for debate. I've never seen these kind of electrodes so take thsat with a grain of [salt] AgCl.
