I used to operate a flame thrower to heat up metal to prepare it for welding. When heated the surface moisture would evaporate from the parts making for a better weld. You can buy one of these at Home Depot.

Also be advised that mere possession of a flame thrower in some jurisdictions is a felony.

 

 

edit: @Xitten, Ummm... That's not a flame thrower. That's just a high output torch.
