What is happening with time?

Featured Replies

Hello all.

I have noticed a surprising behaviour of time in the Forum. I mean time as it s mentionned near each post, & as it is mentionned at the bottom of each page.

Here times are GMT-7.

when I open some other page, it is GMT+2, which I prefer.

It is quite disturbing. What is happening?

Sorry, I had to write it down to figure it.

When I log-in, time commutes to time of my PC.

Now you know my time zone.

Sorry for disturbing.

But it remains a strange behaviour.

Michel.

You seem to have the basic idea figured out, but quickly... When viewing the forums as a Guest (not logged in), you see the times relative to how the server is setup... whatever the time zone is for the forum itself.

However, then when you login, the time is relative to your own user setup. It does not AFAIK grab the time zone from your computer, but instead based on your settings programmed at this page: http://www.scienceforums.net/forum/profile.php?do=editoptions

Actually the time should be based around GMT now since the server is back in the UK... I'll have to figure that one out. But yes, to receive your personalised time settings you need to remain logged in.
