Why do people drive worms out of the ground with electricity? i'm stumped!

The worms, which are wet on their outer layer, experience the electricity.

They go, "Oh crap, dude! That freakin' hurts! I'm getting the heck out of here!!"

They burrow to the surface to escape the pain.

We collect them.

You should have asked How do people drive worms out of the ground with electricity or why does electricity drive worms out of the ground, the Why is to use them in some way, you didn't ask for the reason behind the worms coming out of the ground.

You don't even need worms if you have TNT or an old crankable telephone.

 

Yeah, but some of us don't want to kill so many things indiscriminately in those waters that we can never fish there again.
