I just atempted to make ethyl citrate and wouisld like to know how this ester

smells as what i just made has a distinct smell of nail polish as i cant find any anything on ethyl citrate.

I would advise you to look into other ways of indentifying your products. Smelling is really the last option you want to use. In case you made something toxic, you probably don't...

 

Why do I even explain this? Nitric, you seem to be totally reckless. I advise you to study things a bit more, and stop trying to kill yourself.

nail polish remover smell is usually Ethyl Acetate ester, although some removers have a pear-drop smell akin to Isoamyl Acetate.

I thought nail polish remover was usually acetone - or is that out of date now? MrsDrP just brings acetone home from the lab to refill her nail polish remover pot.

very often it is, yeah, but not always.

usually with water and conditioners and other junk smelly stuff that chicks like :rolleyes:
