Biology Text Book

Featured Replies

I was wondering if someone here could recommend a biology text book for someone who wants to learn biology, basically from scratch. I'm interested in a college level text since I know the basics of biology. Thanks.

I used this book for bio 1 and 2 *shrug*

I actually pulled it off the shelf the other day to quiz myself with the end of chapter questions.

Miller and Levine's Biology is something of a standard, and I remember to be really good. It's the first textbook I took to reading for fun. It's a high school book, though.

I would highly recommend Roberts, Reiss and Monger. It is for British Sixth Forms (Yrs 12 and 13) but chooses breadth rather than depth and succeeds in entertaining and informing the enquiring mind.
