Ammonia

Is it possible to obtaining by this method:

2NH3 + NaOH ---> NH4OH + Na

wait, you want to make ammonia(i assume from the thread title) but you want to make it by starting off with ammonia and turning it into something different?

what?

i really can't make sense of this. what exactly is it that you want to do?

your reaction would only hold true as Ions, you wouldn`t get sodium Metal though, in reality you would likely end up with sodium amide at best, and at worst just a mixture of the 2 you started with.

and btw, it`s not Balanced properly either (where would the extra N go for instance?)

Sorry i mean Ammonia Hydroxide

Can i separate it away from Ammonia Hydroxide ?

2NH3 + NaOH ---> NH4OH + Na would really not work. not just because of the nature of the Na. However this would be alittle closer to the truth, but... NH4NO3 + NaOH <---> NH4OH + NaNO3 . I guess that should be correct if possible, i cant back it up yet.

you started with ammonia and you want to make ammonia.....hmmmm.....what?????

as far as ammonium hydroxide goes, ammonia in water generates ammonium hydroxide

Fable, yup ammonium nitrate and sodium hydroxide will indeed make Ammonia gas and sodium nitrate.

the problem is this: NH3 + H2O = NH4(+) + OH(-)

NH4OH doesn`t Really exist, you will get NH3 gas from that reaction OR ammonia solution (depending on temp and pressure).

You could get some shmexy ammonium :P

ammonia soulution, thats new for me. must refresh my literature to be up-to-date. thank you. so the solution exist only in lower temp.? is that correct? and if risen would make the ammonia 'pop' out?

Can I use electrical cell method

Solution of (NH3 + 2HOH) ---> (NH4OH) + H+ (Out on Anode?)

I just want to mix NH4OH with KNO3 to get NH4NO3

I didn't find any way
