It uses the second letter in the word of the number and corresponds that to the number that letter is in the alphabet. oNe tWo tHree fOur fIve sIx, the i in the sixth is the 9th letter. I don't know how to do spoilers but it was already solved so I think its ok.

oh. Now I see how to read the spoilers, and it makes sense
