I have a 2.5" hard drive enclosure case and it contains an EVA sponge. As the material ages, does this sponge melt and stick to the HDD?

Does this sponge on the bottom of the case press and damage the HDD's flat cable?

Where's the chemistry? You don't provide any details of the composition of these objects.

What's an EVA sponge?

I would say the shock absorption qualities of the foam on the longevity of the SATA connectors, and the flying heads in the hard drive, far outweigh any corrosion concerns of the EVA on the masked copper traces.

I don't know.
The polyurethane foams were notorious for doing that-but slowly.
So, the foam would probably last longer than the HDD

OK thanks. To me, EVA means extravehicular activity, so I was a bit stumped.

Mind you, to me, STD means subscriber trunk dialling................
