Well folks, I have one really simple question. What will be the acceleration of a body at its highest point in vertically upward motion(Not a projectile motion, only in the Y-axis) will it be 0ms-2 or -g or g ?

I thought it was going to be a trick question, as the velocity at the highest point is 0.
The acceleration, other than at the launch, is always -g, downwards.
( depending on convention, an upward moving body has negative acceleration, while, if falling, a positive acceleration )

Even though the velocity is zero at the highest point, gravity still acts on the body. So the acceleration is not zero — it's -g, directed downward .

I know know the topic is old enough to have given birth by now, but the acceleration is +g downward or -g upward.

The way you've both said it says the accelerates upward acceleration is negative, which would be true of something repelled by Earth.

You ignored the comma, which changes the meaning.

“-g, directed downward”

“directed downward” merely confirms what the - sign means, since an answer of “-g” could be misunderstood. Since you are free to choose any coordinate system, the - direction could mean up. It’s not the most popular convention, but it does get used.

Both had the comma, and yes, I missed it. Thanks for the clarity. I do read screens without glasses since they don't help at all.
