He should have taken personal charge. He mistakenly left it to the Russian Navy and the old guard Kremlin members to sort out. They blamed NATO (who had no vessels in the immediate vicinity).They refused American help. When the bodies came back. Russian Mothers screamed and cried. Russian Politicians shrugged. It was not their kids.

They realise civilised countries eg USA are understandably reluctant to send it troops. It is both expensive and politically unviable. There are softer alternatives however for the International community to adopt. A small example follows.

Aeroflot is the oldest and Russia's best and most loved Brand label. It is 50% state owned and the other 50% i belonging in part to the unholy. They who cheer President Putin on to the path of war.

With immediate effect International countries they should announce landing rights will be reduced. If there are 100 immediately reduce to eighty. As the war escalates so should the matching world suspensions. Unions world wide could allow go slows for cleaning cabins and picking up baggage for Aeroflot. How do you disable a £4 million plus plane. Easy do not empty the toilet tanks. Its like invisible chains. People have to go. If they can't the plane is effectively grounded. Baggage bound for Africa and Asia. How unfortunate if they mistakenly went- to the wrong region by "mistake". This is soft politics in operation. No one gets killed. The point is however made. A country cannot operate without a state airline. Cripple it. Hobble the country.
Russian visa applications could be magically and mysteriously slowed down. World wide. If the Russians question the hold ups .The world sticks to one common response "Covid".
Switch attention from Battle tank Units. Substitute practical distraction. Leaders Religious and Political of all international countries should place person to person calls to the Kremlin. Venting moral disapproval.

Finally if Russia does go in. Warning next statement very controversial!. Ukraine is to heavily outnumbered and should wave the white flag. The alternative is many deaths on both sides, concentration camps and executions for good Ukraine Politicians. These should seek sanctuary. For evil to triumph it takes good men to do nothing (Stuart Mills).The world should bide its time. The only certainty is that the present Russian regime will die and be replaced eventually. This happens to us and all. Ashes to ashes,Dust to dust. When it does an independent Ukraine will emerge again. Taking to the skies beating strongly the heartbeat of freedom. Meanwhile on international maps cartographers will stubbornly stick to Ukraine ignoring any annexation and boundary redefinition.

The best things come to those that wait. Ukraine will be no exception. Pyrrhic victory?

As a scientist (serious mischievous or otherwise what sanction would you propose?.Russia has applied the science of psychology.The realization that our species is evolving to a higher (spiritual?) plane.Scientists should come to the fore whacking oppressors (gently) with their placards.Genetically it's a case of Generals v Peacemakers.Both are valid evolutionary methods of Darwinian selection.

They already have. Either way, this reads more like a screed or a blog, not a discussion starter… and we really don’t need 2 separate threads on the Russia Ukraine situation even if it didn’t.
