Twisting is associated with angular momentum (the body part has a moment of inertia and angular velocity). But it's a vector, so what are the implications of twisting in different directions?

 

 here is brief explanation:

the moment of inertia (on its own axis)of cat is different on the branch compared to moment of inertia when falling . so does the angular velocity.  hence to conserve angular momentum it twist itself..
