Can light replace current in a processing unit?

Hi everyone my name is Youcef and I'm kind of new here.

The question of light as a data carier in a processor is not new but few people know about it.

In fact it's actually quite rare to find anyone discussing this topic on the net. So I thought I just bring it here, as a matter of fact I dedicated a website with an introduction to the hyphothetical optical processor as I call it myself.

In this introduction I present a concept which demonstrates that light could be used in a processing unit using it's unique properties.

You need a focal point for discussion, usually in the form of a question. PM a mod and ask if you are not sure.

 

As to your video, yes light based data processing is attractive because it is inherently inertia free so can go faster.

A minus point is that at some juncture you have to interface with the physical world to get your device to do something.

 

I am suprised you vid does not mention phototransistors.
