So, it's the UK version of Civil Air Patrol.

 

I guess so (by the way i modified my original statement after i googled it)

When I was a kid, a thin tacking nail (with nearly no head) was sticking out the counter a bit, so I hammered it back in.

 

...with the tip of a D-cell battery.

 

It made a noise, gurgled, and naturally I looked directly at the tip to assess the damage.

 

I think that was one of the longer stints that I had to wear an eye patch, I am just glad we started to flush the acid out fast enough that I didn't suffer any permanent damage.
