is it? Oh well' date=' I`m probably having yet another "Blonde Moment" today, that`s what getting into punchups with junkies get`s ya!
come to think of it 98% for H2SO4 sounds about right *sigh* just ignore me.[/quote']
Sounds like its that.
Fighting junkies, lol.

if you distil Ethanol that contains water, no mater how perfectly you control the temp, you`ll still only ever get a 98% pure product, even though water boils at 100c, it will form an azeotrope with the alc, bummer I know, but it`s a fact
Yeah, I know that, that's why I was talking about the using chems to removed the water.
bezen works but only once.
Thanks for letting me know what the word ment, yeah its 95% for ethanol/water.
0 -
btw, I overlooked this before as it seemed too trivial to mention, but since you`ve done the same, isn`t it 98% and not 95% for the azeotrope?
whaaa?

Just done a quick check, garden lime has magnesium oxide as well, this shouldnt hurt should it?
0 -
possibly Cement, although it will be quite messy and hard to clean afterwards, it Should ignore the alc and use only the water
Yeah it does, Thank YT.
Even tho I wasnt thinking right, it got me thinking anyway,

aha,
I've got some calcium chloride, but that didnt work,
Anything else that would work?
I'll pop to B&Q soon, just down the road from me,
0 -
I know quick lime is the same stuff, just dont know where to get any.
does B&Q sell it?
Why will sodium hydroxide ruin it?
is it because once it reacted with the alu, it then attacks the ethanol to remove the hydrogen?

Hi, I'm wanting to dry ethanol.
I've got the normal 95% stuff but I want as much out of the water as poss.
So I've been reading around.
My options are to use
magnesium
calcium/barium oxide
But I have none of these.
I was wondering if making a simple galvanic battery in the ethanol would work.
So I was thinking:
add some salt (table salt)
put some alu foil around some coins or wire and put it in the ethanol.
Shouldnt this remove the water?
making alu hydroxide and hydrogen?
Remove the wire/coins and then distill.
But I'm not sure how long this will take, weeks?
Or add some sodium hydroixde to the ethano/water mix then add the alu, but I'm not sure what this would do to the ethanol.
lol. if it was steam it turn back in to ethene wouldnt it?
Cheers for any info,

While the helium3 on Saturn is a perspective, let's wait for the time when we go to colonize other stelar systems. For now we need something else. Those assisted bacteria sound like a good idea.
Well said,

I think you will find that they is you.
And there are huge amounts of helium3 available on Jupiter and Saturn.
LMAO
Just think about what you are saying, which is better?
Going to saturn which takes about 7 years (I think) OR building a system that works here on the earth.
Yeah great thinking there.

Its funny, even the moon will run out in time, if only they would learn from the oil etc, it doesnt last for every.
And what will be the effects of mining the moon?
Get some solar cells on afria and pipe hydrogen,
But then that would give them more power (not energy, , no light bulbs anyway, lol.), big no no in the mp's eyes, lol.

It'll expand just like foam.

you must obtain the largest surface area with the least amount of weight to float the most.... that owuld be a sphere shape... or in this case a hemisphere
nah doesnt matter on the shap, what matters is how much water you displace.
Ps the best thing I made with paper was in my first year of uni and I was helping some friends out.
anyway. I got some of that wax coated paper, (normally blue on one side)
and taped it in the just the right places as to make a air tight seal which under pressure will not pull apart, eaasy to do just a double seam etc etc.
anyway I made it and it was made from about 2 A3 paper size. you could site on it etc. and just to test how strong it was I jumped on it, it was so strong.
it was a comp to see who could make the best lightest chair out of paper products, eg card etc.
well I made 2 one out of pizza boxes to to show the guy whats what, (as it wasnt my compo)
and this on, the way it worls is paper is very strong at being pulled apart, but as you know will fold easy if pushed together.
bult it on that system and it is very very strong.
give it a try. lol.

Its like most things, there doesnt seem like much of what is know is worth anything.

Its just to work out how much energy is required to do a job. EG lift something 1M off the ground, or push it 1m to the side against friction, I tyhink that what you are wanting to know.,

"I'm assuming that by 'under sea level' you mean a point which is below 'sea level' "- that is correct
sorry' date=' i still dont follow... are you saying that weather or wind effects gravity??? if so, why?[/quote']
Read my post again, IM NOT TALKING ABOUT GRAVITY. I'm talking about weight, is that really that hard to understand, I've said this once.
0 -
I talking about the weight of something,
you have a centrifugal force at the equator which is spinning out, but not at the poles.
As for weather, ever tried to weight air?
you need a vacuum to do this,
0 -
right' date=' as i've always been told that is true.... however, wouldnt that change with height?
e.g if you are a long way below sea level compared to on the top of mount everest, the height different is quite big and one being so much close to the center of earth and gravity, does this figure not change then????
the reason i say it might is, as we know, if you travelled (in a rocket) out of the earths atmosphere and so on then you would no long feel the earth's gravity, so distance seems to effect the force of gravity, so therefore doesnt the difference between mt everest and under sea level effect that figure?[/quote']
lol. and it will also change if you on the poles, and the equator.
also the weather at the time will change it, lol.
but that is just getting out of control.

this is the same reason burning a log takes a while but paper doesnt,

YT u been in the clink? lol.

I know carbon does nothing to help, but its works better than what i have got,
I've got copper plates 4 mm think, this is too heavy.
How is this doing my self out of some voltage?
the cathode doesnt do anything does it? it, just conducts.
Also I've been talking about the anode and cathode the wrong way round, sorry.
Not too bad of list, http://www.metal-mart.com/Guides/Galvanic.htm

yeha I know that, its the rate at which the alu is 'burned' up in relation to the current, I know the voltage will remain the same (that fuel type which will change this,)
I've now sorted my problem, My plate was big thats what was gettign me mixed up.
I'm talking about the anode (none alu plate)
just got to get some more carbon rods,
0 -
lol. you growing plants?

thats because he has taken the pic with a lower exposure time due to how bright it really is, just like the moon landing, lol.
