Has anyone tried to make a motor control for the spark gap instead of controling the supply volts. sorry for all the questions in one go.

I was being silly realy. I could disconnect the upstairs ring and use that or use the cooker outlet as that should cope with about 20A constant. How much would it cost and where do you get wire with that kind of insulation.

Are you talking about my tesla coil or the the pictures of the coil 5614 posted? My coil shouldnt draw more than 4 amps but I have not measured it because the fuse on my meter is blown. The pictures 5614 posted im sure draw at least 10 amps but probably much much more.

Its black and it coats EVERYTHING which is a real disappointment. Enclosed display cases don’t work because it coats everything. Being black also means you cant die it. (wow that doesn’t sound too good' date=' maybe I should rephrase that)

 

I don’t think many people have successfully made it at home. You can make crapy homemade versions but they won’t spike and it’s not really a true suspension. People have taken the powder off of VHS takes and added to mineral oil but it doesn’t do much.[/quote'] Thanks I had a look at their site it seems as though there are various viscousitys though and the surfectant would need to be added to home made stuff to prevent it coagulating. The vhs tapes probably didn't have the right size or composition of particles. I might just have to experiment with this. I know you say its black and the stuff on the site was but thats how they made it. You may be able to play with it still if its made to your own spec.

You could make a fun display in an enclosed flat tray with a moving magnet under it. If it will hold a dye it would peak and the colour would change as the amount of liquid the light traveled through changed. I love this sort of stuff its great to watch. What colour is the liquid where did you get it or how can you make it please.? Does it have special properties or can you just grind iron and mix it with oil.

A lot of the ones around now use wax.

I agree. I could see it being usefull if we were still hunted by wild animals or needed to hunt and co ordinate hunting with other humans for survival. On the other hand the information and concepts we have to deal with now require an expanded conciousness and this may lead to psychic abilitys. Don't you just love it when you contradict yourself in your own post.

I don't want to change or damage this thread and what I have previously put forward is only my opinion, but if you look at the theory of space time and movement again and fully understand it allbeit with an open mind it explains entanglement and the weirdness barrier. I think its that the primary coil normaly has current flowing according to its resitance and self attenuation from its own inductance. When the closed secondry is brought in the back emf in it as the polarity switches lasts long enough for its magnetic flux to induce a current in the primary in the same direction as the reversing current from the mains and this is a higher current than would normaly flow. This higher current would then induce a bigger flow in the secondry and the effect would cascade to the limits of the circuit.

I neglected to mention the fact that my apparatus will be on a force plate. And the force plate will measure the deccelaration of the egg. The person whose deive can disapate the impact of the egg over the longest period of time or "make the lowest peak" on the graph (which is: Newtons on the y-axis and time on the x-axis). This also means that the lower the initial weight of the device, the better.

Try a tube and piston. Drill large holes at the top and get smaller and smaller towards the bottom and finnish with no holes. The piston and catcher will have to just have enough friction to stay at the top on its own or you could use grease to help it to stick a bit. The catcher could be three or more rods spreading at 45 degs up from the rod coming from the piston with a net stretched across them. The rods will need to bend slightly inwards when the egg tensions the net and pulls it down so the rods tips will close above it. You may wish to pre bend the rods so that with egg in the net they dont press on the egg from the sides. Start with thin wire rods and increase the number untill the egg just stops comfortably short of the piston rod. Start with smaller fewer holes and drop similar weight onto the piston and increase the number/diammeter of holes untill you get a smooth drop to a stop as the air cussion forms where the holes run out.

get a can of lighter gas and a can of lighter fluid and make a spray tube use the gas to draw the fluid and spray it. a flame thrower. will most likley blow but if you do it somewhere safe and light it from a distance it could be a laugh. do at your own risk.

The closest you can get is an all permanent magnet motor but thats not perpetual as the magnets supply the force and required energy to be imparted to generate the force.

I believe that its an effect of the brain running multiple programs which are linked and exchange information and the nervous system giving spacial and internal information to these programs that causes a loop of self observation.
