  1. indeed, who knows,

    but maybe:

it has some kind of auto-disconnect mechanism!

so the axles no longer drivers the wheels, and just spins around aimlessly,

and as the great words of:- jordan, blike, neo007, & now 5614:

    "Who knows?" !!!!!

  2. It does not break the "enclosed-ness". As long as the wavelength is larger than the mesh's open spaces, then it can't get through.

    two things:

first of all presumably, the holes would be bigger than the wavelength, if you look at chain mail, the holes can be up to 5mm across, [approx]

secondly, WHAT WAVES????? we are talking about being hit by lightening, lightening is a discharge of static electricity from the clouds, it surely is a flow of electrons, which would not classify as a wave....... so what are you talking about?

  3. NO, it is impossible to program or make something which is more intelligent than us because it will be based on our knowledge........

    [an obvious overlooked fact]

you cant create something more clever than you, if it is based on your brain!!!!!

but it is highly possible to have AI which thinks quicker, that is possible, already, computer calculators are quicker than humans! just not cleverer, because it was based on be-known knowledge!

  4. i wont ask why, but you are effectively hacking yourself!!!! [in a way!!]

i think the easiest way, would probably be to just store the files on a USB key, which can now hold up to 2GB of info!, at a price

alternatively, i think a DVD-RW drive can come cheap, and the disks are getting cheaper as well, they can hold 4.7GB of info norm, but there will probably be a bigger disk somewhere

the reason i suggest that, opposed to trying to do as you want to, is beacause what you want to do, has so many things that can go wrong, the most common is compatability, also your firewall might try and stop you!

as you said, "i am having issues", so would I! its not the easiest thing to do!

you could link your computer to your own website, which you would have to make, in your website, insert download buttons, from which you could download files, which would be located on ur HDD, other than that, im not sure!!

[not much help, but something to think about!]

  5. i always thought when i learnt it in school:

    "how accurate can it be????"

but by the seems of things, the people who do it [carbon dating] seem certain it is accurate, and so does everyone else, so i believe them!

[and so does the admiral, so thats more proof it is accurate!]

  6. i honestly dont know, it is something that hasnt been invented yet [AI] so therefore, there is no true, [proven] answer....

its something that needs to be designed, created and basically invented!!

[and why shouldnt it be YOU!]

    ~ good luck, u need it! ~

pressumably it would have to be some kind of computer, or electrical circuit, opposed to something biological..... [but the rest is up to you!]

  7. i would have thought the answer was obvious,

who wants to sit around wasting there day?

who wants to sit around, mixing harmless chemicals to give off C02????

    no-one

who wants to be blown off their seat by massive explosions, have some noise, action, excitement and adventure in their life????

    most people!!! [incl. me!]

and where better place to find out how to do this and to ask on a chem forum????

[by the way, does anyone have any spare francium lying around, id love to play with some, or at least just see it!! that is, see it in the air!!!] yes, i know what would happen to it!

  8. anyone who went to english school, would have a lunch with shakespear, and give him some, he can have a sodium amalgam drink, with and some C4 with mercury salad dressing,,,,

or we could save that for hitler,

but those would be revenge lunches, and not sociable lunches, so properly:

i was gonna say sum1 to do with either physics, or chemistry, or electronics, or computers, [basically, anything i find cool] but there's to many to chose from, so a lunch with God would be cool! i spose, He covers all the subjects!!!!

dont mind really, just someone interesting, to me thats anyone to do with..... [copy/paste from above!]....... either physics, or chemistry, or electronics, or computers.

  9. chain suits are used by coilers all the time' date=' some of the TV stunts you see are guys or galls in such suits. YES it`s perfectly safe!

factor in the "Skin effect" also, you`ll know that what Lance and I are saying is true.

[u']as for lightening, that really all depends on the weather, no 2 bolts are the same![/u]

what are coilers???? [brain block!!! i know i know, just cant remember!!!]

what does that reffer to or mean????? [bit unerdlined / bold]

and so if got hit by lightening in chain mail, or metal mesh, does that work as faraday's cage?? im guessing not, but may as well ask!

  10. i dunno, but B & Q dont seem to sell black lights anymore, or not like yt's anyway....

6ft high, and only £10,,,,,, im jealous of you! that was a wicked deal! even though it was a while back,,,,, nice buy!

[make ur wife jealous of ur shopping skills!!!!!]

  11. i know fuel is [crap, whats the word?] it can catch fire! and explodes! yes i know, [well not explodes, but yes i know what happens]

but say if you have a fuel tank, which is metal, if that was hit by lightening, would faraday's cage save the fuel from ignition, or would it all blow up!!!????

i think that a suit of metal armour will DEFINATELY stop the electrical field, but will it stop the electrical current / voltage from the lightening????? hitting you, and possibly, quite likely killing you!?!??!?!?

  12. this website:- http://www.physics.gla.ac.uk/~kskeldon/PubSci/exhibits/E3/

    says:

"A more impressive demonstration of the Faraday cage effect is that of an aircraft being struck by lightning. This happens frequently, but does not harm the plane or passengers. The metal body of the aircraft protects the interior. For the same reason, and if it were not for the highly flammable nature of petrol, a car would be a very safe place to be in a thunderstorm. "

so its saying that planes are safe, but cars are not, because of the fuel in cars!!! but planes have fuel too!!! whats going on, why are plane passengers safe, and car not, both metal shells, both with fuel! whats going on?

if the passengers are safe from electrical current, and therefore also safe from electrical shocks, y isnt the fuel?

  13. Let's put it another way, in England during one thunderstorm in 1360 more knights were killed by lightning than were killed the battles of Crecy and Poitiers. The suits of armor did not protect them from the current, as they were touching the charged metal.

yes, but asuming that faradays cage doesnt let electrical fields inside.....

the holes in the knights armour will decomplete the circuit, therefore it can no longer be considered as faraday's cage......

plus, the suit of armour could be of a low conductivity, which reduces the effect of faraday's cage,

i think that the suit of armour will DEFINATELY stop the electrical field, but will it stop the electrical current / voltage from the lightening?????

    [is the question now]

i thought it would, but now, it doesnt sound so realistic!?

  14. yeah, so from this we assume that the metal suit would not protect from an electrical shock, so therefore, what is faraday's cage, it doesnt work, if it wont protect from an electrical shock [as lightening] it wont stop any electricity, so whats the point in it, what does it do, and what does it protect u from????????

im confused, all of a sudden, faraday's cage doesnt seem to work!! [but it does] ????

  15. But, the "metal suit" you intend to use as a faraday cage should be a completely closed metallic surface with no windows etc.

yeah, obviously, so if its a perfect metal suit, with no windows, or nothing like that, then am i fine?

and if its skin tight? then am i fine?

  16. Here says: "Faraday Shielding" is an entirely different effect. When a conductive object is given a DC charge imbalance' date=' the imbalance appears only on a molecule-thick skin, and the electrostatic fields only appear outside the object. Faraday shielding during a lightning strike only prevents your body from taking on an imbalanced charge. Your hair would not stand up, and there would be no corona discharges off your fingertips. But these effects aren't dangerous.[u'] Faraday shielding doesn't deal with currents, and its the current through your flesh which makes lightning dangerous.[/[/u]QUOTE]

so yes, its a good link, but still DOESNT answer the question:

if u wear a metal suit, and got hit by lightening, would u be safe, because of the faraday's cage effect, or would u be elecrtocuted, because of how electricity travels?

  17. For example, you have a system of two particles, each with spin 1/2. But you know that the total has zero spin, because you prepare the system that way. Now the two particles are entangled - if you separate them without perturbing them too much, they will retain this information. If at some later time you measure the spin of A and you find that it's spin is "up", then you instantly know the other particle, B, is spin "down" even though B might be very far away.

so they are inversely proporitional to one another, in a way?

  18. However, if after you measure the spin of A you then change its spin, it will have no effect on B.

that is because the measuring process breaks the "entagle-bond" [made up word!] and therefore, they are no longer entagled after the measuring process, there is no longer a link between them, they are like two random atoms, nothing to do with one another

  19. Yes you would be fine. The current would travel through the skin of the suit because it is more conductive than your body. However it would also act as a lightning rod ensuring that you get struck.

I don’t think its really about the faraday cage though. Its more the skin affect.

    r u sure though?

(because if you touch a wire' date=' u can get an electric shock, even though the electricity can flow through the wire, onto the rest of the circuit,)

and in this case you would be touching the outter case, metal suit, when it gets hit by lightening, so would you get a bit of an electric shock?

electricity might take the path with the least resistance, but it does take all the paths! incl. the ony with higher resistance.

Proof: attach a wire to a plug, [connecting live and neutral'] 240V will go through the wire [aprox], touch that wire, and the electricity will go through u! and u will die! [prob] but the easiest path 4 the elec. is to go through the wire, but it still goes through u! as well!

Conclusion: electricity takes all paths, not only the easiest [least resistance]

or does it act as faraday's cage...
