  1. OMG, I just made a remark about test particles in a semiclassical theory of quantum gravity in slight reowrking of a preprint!

  2. We have a new paper out on phage resistance in Pseudomonas http://dx.doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0144514

  3. Just had a paper accepted in the Journal of Geometry and Physics. The paper was rejected by a very high ranking journal only to be almost right away accepted by JGP. Over 14 months ago we wrote the first version!

  4. A paper accepted and another submitted, and it's not even lunch time! on a roll today!

Sometimes rejections can come quick, if the paper is rejected at stage one by the editorial staff. The problems start when referees get involved!

Right, 14 months. But that is by far the longest I have waited 6 months is a more common wait.

Physics journals, in my experience so far are much better time-wise.

Great news. I have several papers under consideration and a few more almost ready to submit. I spend more time writing than doing maths these days, not that the two are distinct. Anyway, what does annoy me is the time journals and referees take. 14 months we had to wait for a rejection!

  8. Considering releasing some of the classical physics derivations such as compton scattering, and perhaps some experiments. Anyone who thinks that is a bad idea should quickly contact me lol.

  9. Today is a good day. I had my first publication accepted and have been asked by the editors to use my artwork for the cover of the issue. Moderate success!

  10. passed all exams, chosen to do physics and engineering in medicine msc at UCL. Considering my years of clinical experience and contacts I think it will be a more lucrative career.

  11. Don't you hate that feeling of self-doubt just before you submit a paper?

  13. I won first prize in the poster competition. The prize is to give a talk at the conference!

I agree that posters are not the idea way of communicating. But then they were never intended to be. Posters should be a a kind of advert along the lines of what you would tell someone your work is about when in a lift. Details are for the paper.

I did my masters at Sussex. I really enjoyed it. I learnt a little, but I was very prepared for it. I think I annoyed the quantum field theory lecturer a few times by being the only one able to answer his questions almost instantly.

  21. My paper in Journal of Physics A is going to be listed as one of the 'Publisher's Pick' articles as they regards it to be of particular interest to their readers. I am very pleased.

In a sense, but what I am talking about here is classical. You can find a preprint (which is not much different to the accepted version) at http://arxiv.org/abs/1412.2719

We have a geometric framework to discuss mechanics beyond Newtonian mechanics such as that fond in various applied models.
