  1. I think in certain species the female eats or decapiate their mate. In that case I say we don't follow that ritual. Again I think part of the fun is the "naughty"/taboo factor. If we did it like they do it on the discovery channel...(sorry) then it would be more like going to the washroom and releaving an impulse or urge. But to be more on topic, I dont think I actually answered your question so here; sex can be seen as having two functions. The problem is that the primary function is to procreate, therefore if being used for any other function would be "Shallow/Immoral". Tie that in with what The Peon said, and the fact that we value life (especially the infant life, so naturally the process as well) and I think thats a pretty good reason as to why it is the way it is.
  2. I dont know either. You can play a physical game of football with the guys, yet... I think it has more to do with the fact that our species being selfish by birth, or atleast taught to be that way, that we automatically assume that people will act that way. I mean, survival in alot of cases would be considered shallow.

    Rap or Crap?

I prefer rap over most music. There are a few good artists I guess in every genre. I find most music now a days to be crap, its not just rap. Mos Def & Kweli, Common, Sadat X, Guru, I also like a few of Jedi Mind Tricks. I mostly listen to older stuff such as wu-tang (36 chamber to whatever their Double LP one was called) , Tu pac, Slick Rick, Big L, etc. To each his or her own. The most annoying thing is when people listen to music because it intellectual or deep and look down at people who dont share their taste like "Oh you listen to rap? *smirk* *giggle". What happened to pure enjoyment? I like Rap because of the beat (mostly ripped from someone else but hey, and it has some lyrical flow (If you actually spend the time to find good artists). At the same time I enjoy classical, for other reasons, and so on.
  4. Yeah well I get lazy from time to time, and incoherent messages happen. My apologizes, but really the analysis wasn't really needed. I guess though if that's what you do primarily for long periods of time (i.e. Scienists), you do it subconsciously. Anyways I got it now. So I will work on it again with my old math book that has been collecting dust. So I believe this thread can be closed or whatever you guys do with threads that are pointless to keep open. Been to many forums, so Im assuming thats what most do, so don't kill me if I am wrong.
  5. Well it was more of an example...nothing to do with Calculus. Like what you said: Non - Calculus Method "you could average the distance travelled" vs "over the time taken" 1)^ Simplification General Mathematics "Rounding numbers" 2)^Simplification 1 and 2 are common. I don't think it's an attempt either, it's much easier to explain it properly. But thanks for the deep analysis! I will try and construct my sentences in a more formal matter, using more precise/perfected ideas.
  6. Mercury Symbol: Hg Atomic Number: 20 Part of the Transition Metals. Very toxic and dangerous. Used in thermometers. It has the lowest and highest freezing and melting points, respectively. OTHER POSSIBILITIES Americium (%25) Carbon (%25) Iron (%12) Oxygen (%12)
  7. I am a happy man, thank you. I'll have to read it all over but what I am getting is that: Your measuring a curve (essentially?). I guess you can average it out but that makes it less accurate in a sense (Kind of like taking a bunch of rounded numbers and adding them up...well not exactly but you know...). With Calculus you can take any given section or point (instanteous?) and find out the rate of change to a more accurate/percise calculation? You know I've take a course with Calculus in college and some how pasted it. I must of done REALLY well on the 2/3 rd's of the semesters material. Eeek.
  8. I am no genius, but I am sure Calculus shouldn't be so difficult for me to understand. I am having an awful time trying to grasp the main purpose for it. Through that I can figure it out myself....so I was hoping one of you people could take the time to explain it to me in plain basic english on how it works. I believe that everything should be able to be explained simply. I think my brain work on some sort of deductive method of seeing the whole picture, or tries to anyway, and then gets confused not know the basics and can't see the basics. SO. What I gather is that your trying to find the instanteous rate of change between "Something" as it reaches 0, or the limit of 0. Why Zero? whats the significance? and Instanteous? How? Why is that relevant? I didn't want to make a new thread about it...but I might need to ask more questions as someone explains. I also would like to thank all those who help so I can get over this barrier. I enjoy science, but without the mathematical knowledge its hard to get past the basics. Not that I will ever get past them, hell I am still figuring out SP/GR and QM and Ferimons, and....Gluons, and warped space time ( Still having a hard time visualizing it but I am getting there. ) For a mere Metal Casting tech I bet I am treading in increasingly deeper waters without the knowledge of how to swim, but i'll see how far I can get. p.s. Sorry for the long read, I am sure most of it is pointless but yeah.
  9. All I know of is Aluminium has a foam version, and I am not sure the casting applications for them. It looks pretty cool though.
  10. You forgot for metal: Thixotropic casting (SSM), Evaporative Polystrene (Lost Foam), and Investment (Lost Wax) casting. I don't know how many processes you want in detail but there are alot more in some regards such as: Heat Treatment (metal) T4,T6, Normalizing, etc Air cooled, Quenched, etc Grain Refrainment. Casting: Sand Casting Perment mold LP/HP Gravity More.... Well thats all I remember for now. I'll think up some more, I should know all of them because of my field but, tired today and I am still jus a student in a sense.
  11. I don't know, I personally learnt it from my parents and Martial Arts ( ). Basically its controlled breathing. I am not sure the biological affects of doing it, but I am sure there is a psychological affect that indirectly helps physically. You reduce irregular breathing (I guess) and its puts you in a relaxed state, maybe reducing stress. It's mythologically idea I think states it set you in some form of spiritual enlightenment. I am sure a science forum would be very quick to disprove that. As for methods...I am sure there are websites within a google clicks away. I however (When I did, which I should do more often) was just sitting cross legged (you know to open the 6th gate of the spiritual garden, if anything to make it look like I know what I am doing), relax, clear mind, breath in slowly, hold for a few and then exhale. Rinse, re-apply, and repeat. That's a relevant post right? If not I'll get it sooner or later.
