Is it nassie?(hope this is how it is spelled)
It's actually Champ---the Lake Champlain monster. Nessie was a good guess though.

[b']YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT[/b]
I agree. In fact, there was a huge study done to prove that. If I find a link I'll post it.
You'd have to know a little bit about reptiles, amphibians, and cryptozoology to know what I'm into by looking at my avatar and username.

Actually not too long ago (within the past year) I read that a university GM'd plants to glow when they needed water. However I am horribly unorganized and I don't know what the plant or university was. Perhaps someone else knows, or maybe it will hit me.

I also have a question:
Isthere a private forum for the mods, admins, and resident experts? Sometimes when I'm just browsing around SFN I click on user's profiles and it says they are viewing a thread, but it does not specify what thread. When I click on normal users' profiles it always says what thread. Are the mods/admins/experts viewing a thread in the private forum?

I would like to hear Mokele's take on this.

I voted that some things are good and others are bad. For example, I completely agree with SkepticLance, but I guess religion is holding me back from being totally for it.

Welcome back, Mokele.
Edit: We really needed you in the Evolution forum a few times. Good to have you back.

I actually enjoy editing people's posts [sinister laugh].
I agree with Martin and padren. Though I am not supprised, I still find it remarkable that these apes can rely on experience over instinct like humans.

I edited your post to the way you wanted it, Martin.

Well then.
It's just the last part that made me go crazy. "Carbon dioxide. They call it pollution. We call it life." We ("they" in the slogan) don't call it pollution. We ("they" in the slogan) simply say that when humans unnaturally release CO2 by burning fossil fuels and such creates more insulation thus warming the atmosphere. We ("they" in the slogan) also know that CO2 is natural and essential to life on earth, but too much of it will cause problems.

Hmm, you might want to have that blue nose checked out and wear clothes more often.
Give me a break, I made that picture in like 20 seconds.

A girl I know, who is 10, hits her head on her locker at school. She does that because she is mad at herself, and I guess that's her way of punishing herself.

...or maybe a simple thread, instead of whole forum, in GD will work.

I agree with you, Dak.

Wow, just wow. I insist, WOW. Wow, wow, wow. I don't know how else to say it. WOW
I completely agree with you, [Tycho?].
P.S. Wow.
Edit: I'll actually reply to this later. I just need some time to take it all in. Wow.

I'd so do that if it was open to the public. Would this be in the format of like sports teams? I think that would be totally cool! Championship matches, winners gets a bagel, all good fun
What I meant was something like the news team, only with debates. The news team basically writes news articles for the news forum. There is a private forum for the members where they edit articles the articles. The members are also moderators of the News Forum.
What you said would be awesome though.

Why was this moved to General Discussion?

Okay, I changed the OP's question slightly, so some of you're anwers will probably change.
I hope that a transition will be made within the next five years, however the congress won't allow it. Ethanol will benefit the economy because of the extra corn needed. Also, it will be better for the environment as it burns cleaner.
I voted 3-5 years, but I am not certain...

Kids + Science = NOTHING
in The Lounge
Posted
Okay, is there anything we can do to get more kids interested in science? It's going to be a huge problem in the future if no kids want to go into science. I'm starting to see that most of my friends that used to be love it are no longer interested, and me trying to help them get back into it isn't working. In fact, I only know of 7 out of the 220 or so kids in my sixth grade class like science, and the number is dropping. So what can we, the people, do?
