  1. A small portion of any fire is ionized/plasma ;-)
  2. I hear pure potassium is dangerous and hard to get but I can't remember. Sodium can be made from the electrolysis of NaOh which I don't think is too hard to get. It is very reactive. You can get hydrogen from mixing metals with acids. Magnesium is made by electrolysis of magnesium chloride i believe. Elemental sulphur can be found in nature. I think nitrogen is produced through distillation but this may be difficult. I don't know any more about nitrous oxide than I posted in other thread I don't know what the last one is.
  3. Possession of nitrous oxide for purpose of inhaling or ingesting is illegal in most of the US (not sure about other countries.) Nitrous oxide used in cars is mostly legal (while obeying the speed limit) since it contains hydrogen sulfide. Unless you are a dentist, physicion, or plan to use it in a car I would be careful with it as it can be dangerous and illegal. I'm not sure what you plan to do with the liquid (not inhaling so that's good) but it's melting point is 182 K, so get it below that I guess. You could also increase the pressure past around 7 mPa (I believe).
  4. Someone said the average SAT scores for MIT were over 1500 (on the 1600) scale but I'm not sure.
  5. You might also experiment witht the width of the straw opening for maximum thrust (this can be done with optimization calculus if you know how to do.) I think the mass may depend on the distance you are trying to get it to go. Just experiment around. 1 kilo may be unrealistic for a balloon powered car depending on how big your balloon is.
  6. MIT is great but very hard to be accepted. I am thinking about trying to go there.
  7. Ammonium nitrate is a common fertilizer if I'm not mistaken.
  8. I think you can heat ammonium nitrate.
  9. Nitrous Oxide you mean? laughing gas?
  10. Someone told me that black holes had dark matter in the center or otherwise contained dark matter. Is this true? I know dark matter is hypothectical and not proved, but has it even been hyposthosized that it is in black holes? This confused me.
  11. I have recently become interesting in cryogenics and uses. Does anyone do anything in this field or know about it. I just wanted to hear what people would do/have done or know about it. Are there are good books on the sugject btw?
  12. I thought they still had some pollution from fusion of helium-3 but the fusion methods would have to be more advanced to use it wouldn't they?
  13. Well, what is your budget, where do you live, are you willing to go out of state, and how many/much scholorships do you think you can get?
  14. A quantum physicist is stopped on the highway by a police officer who asks "Do you know how fast you were going, sir?", to which the physicist responds, "No, but I know exactly where I am!".
  15. weru - will ecoli remain unbored
  16. bcs - Bulimic Creationist Seminar
  17. I doubt it. It is House which I don't very much trust.
  18. That was very interesting. I can't wait to view some of the other videos. When was the orignal video compiled? This guy seems pretty intense on anti-illusion, which I don't mind.
  19. I don't know if it means anything but [math] \frac{870-150}{2}=360 [/math].
