  1. Damn, I was thinking zinc sulfide(or similar) coated sheet and write on it leaving trails of glowingness . Although a 1 metre range is not too bad this could be interesting. ~Scott
  2. Yep i'm familiar with CRT's but I was talking about somthing that more resembles a gun in that it could propel electrons at range. Dosen't the front of the TV block them. If i was to remove the electron gun from a TV what sort of a range would if have? ~Scott
  3. We're doing cathode ray's at school at the moment and there was mention of an "electron gun" naturaly this caught my attention. The teacher gave little information on it and left me pondering. I guess it would be similar to a CRT but with an open end. How much of a range would this thing have? But more importantly what would it be capable of doing! Would it build up a static charge on someone so as soon as they touch some metal they fry? Would it stream straight into them like high eneergy betas? I am just realy curious about this one ~Scott

    No, reverse, you way have something here, don't listen to the others go to the zoo! Being surrounded by that many animals one is bound to die I know this sucks but if you can spend a day at the zoo and no animals die then it was probably just a coincidence. If you ask the manager at the end of the day how many animlas died and he says 50 then you may have a problem. Oh, and yourdadonapogos what did the dolphins do to you? ~Scott

  8. Do you have to get a rouge nest, bee hives aren't that common. What about the other one I thought you said there was two? What type of bees are they, you have those big bumble bees over there don't you. ~Scott

  10. Ah don't worry I'm so stupid, stereocentre, I must be tried OK lets give this a shot. your right it has no chiral centre. I'm going to go with cis, only because the double bond to the left of the pic is common to both priority groups and the other isn't. So the priority, functional, whatever their called groups are on opposite sides. Lock it in eddie, cis, for $5,000. ~Scott

  17. Yeah it seems strange to me too but thats the best I can come up with. I find it strange how its name would go into other compounds. example CH3 | CH-OH | CH3 I guess this would be like 2-isopropyl alcohol but couldn't it be called 2-Propanol? Seems like a easyer name to me ~Scott

  19. I can't find a triple bond here. What i got so far the Isopropyl group is attached to something else on the 2nd carbon in the chain hence the "2". A methyl group it just a CH3 group attacked to a chain and a ethyl group is a CH3CH2 group on a chain. If we add these groups togeher we get, hence methylethyl. CH3 | CH2 | CH3 Here the methyl group is in bold and the ethyl group in italics. Remove a H from the centre carbon (No 2) And it becomes 2-methylethyl. CH3 | CH-R | CH3 ~Scott

  24. That disgram confuses me I'm not familiar with that style. is it something like this (add H's) C | C-C Its ethane with an mthyl and also an isomer of propane. What i don't get is the 2 in '2-Methylethyl' does it realy need to be there, I think theres only one position for the methyl and if there was two methyls wouldn't it be dimethylethyl? ~Scott
