  1. can it be fixed so that only one score per person is entered onto the records? so that its more like 'top ten players' rather than 'j'dura's top ten scores'?

maybe he's got a point! i was just looking at the top scores for some of the games, there is at least three where one person has 9 or all 10 of the top scores. it's all well and good to have perfected a game and be the best at it, but no one is going to play that game if he/she thinks that they have no chance of getting on the scoreboard.

  2. Since we're on the topic of crytpo so much now' date=' here's one that I could never figure out (but then again I never really tried). It's from Dan Brown's "Digital Fortress" so I'm sure it could easily be googled, but that's not that point. So, on to the code:

    128-10-93-85-10-128-98-112-6-6-25-126-39-1-68-78

This one's a little different than the others so far, but good luck.[/quote']

Your right, this is easily googled!

however i doubt if anyone will break this code. to break the code you will need to have read the book and have a copy of the book beside you. if you haven't got the book, then it is impossible to break the code.

I have provided a link below WHICH GIVES THE ANSWER to this code so if you have the book and want to break the code, then don't click on the link.

i only just realised that this is page 2' date=' i thought that it was page 1 and that redalerts post was the op... you would not believe how long i spent trying to figure out in what dieviouse way a maths puzzle had been encrypted as 'the grapes are too sour anyways'

lol, i've been laughing my ass off for ages about this!!! :D:D:D:D:D

  5. i'll try and learn how to do that in future, sorry.

the last one is stumping me but that's because it's 4am here so i'm going to bed and i'll do it on the morning!!!

put up the rest if others request cause i know it'll take you a lot of time to write them out and it would be a waste of time for just one person

  6. 1. 5! - [(sqr root 5) by (sqr root 5)] = 115

    2. 88 divided by .88 = 100

    3. (sqr root of 4 + sqr root of 4)! = 24

    4. 77 - [(sqr root 7) by (sqr root 7)] = 70

    5. 4! + 4! + square root of 4 = 50

    6. 4! + [(sqr root 4) by (sqr root 4)] = 28

    ! = factorial

and sorry i can't use latex!!

  7. Ahhhhh, just the wrong time to bring it back, a week later woulda been perfect. You see, Dave and I are currently in the middle of a week of exams, and the arcade seems to be taking precidence over our revision, so much so, the exam I have tomorrow, I haven't done any work for, and can't seem to concentrate cos all I can think is: must get my post count up so I can join Dave in the fun that is the arcade.

Your telling me. My final year report is due this friday (today in wednesday 11pm!) and i'm f***ed for it!! oh well, back to the arcade!!

also, how do you set up a challenge?

  8. came up with one for you guys...

make this line shorter without changing anything about it:

    "__________"

make this line short without changing anything about it:

    there, it's shorter!!

  9. Topic: Mandatory volunteering should not be prohibited.

What do u think of mandatory volunteering and its effect on students in school. Do u with or against it and why?

That pharse cancels itself out! It's like saying: 'you have to do this, but you don't have to if you don't want to!!

seriously though, students probably should be made do it. it's good for the community and they probably wouldn't do it otherwise

  10. so (1/40)*(1/39)*(1/38)=X

    when I find X' date=' do I divide that by 10?[/quote']

You first had 10 ten horses picked out of forty. Of those ten you got three that came in 1, 3 and 4.

So first your first placed horse, the odds of you having him as one of your ten is 10/40 = 1/4

Now, knowing that one of your horses didn't come in second, this leaves nine of your horses left but only 38 horses running. This gives the odds of your third placed horse being 9/38.

The odds of your fourth placed horse would then be 8/37

Total odds would then be: (1/4)*(9/38)*(8/37) = 1/78.1111

That's my take on it anyway
