So the answer to the OP isn't just about oxygen.

Indeed, but the conversation was focused on the oxygen balance, not other factors as well. It helps to actually follow a conversation.

 

 

Yes, we can survive permanently down to just above half the present oxygen concentration at sea-level; the phytoplankton production should cover the loss from trees being destroyed, in principle, but in practice, there will no doubt be severe consequences from it that may destroy us anyway.

I followed the conversation, but the answer can't be polarised to just the ability to breath or not, we also need food, water and a reasonable temperature.
