is it possible to covert atoms into photons

Featured Replies

please think outside the box. this is in the theoretical physics section for a reason.

heres a brief overview

"Atoms are made of subatomic particles that have mass. A photon is a massless packet of electromagnetic waves. A photon is considered to be a particle if light travels in small intensities. Research Planck's theory of light as well as Einstein's Photoelectric Effect."

I don't understand this comment.

Anyway, within the standard model of particle physics there is no mechanism for all particles to decay into photons. For one, we have several conservation laws to take into account.

However, if you had some antimatter, you could convert that and its corresponding matter into photons.

Indeed, so you could manufacture anti-atoms and bring them close to atoms. That would be the best answer to the opening question.
